Muncher Posted November 30, 2025 Author Posted November 30, 2025 Well new trans is in shifts great but of course the new rear main did not cooperate and blew all the oil out on the highway onto of it still not running right so new motor time!
Pete M Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 how is a replacement block going to fix the poor running issues? what were your compression numbers?

Ive got a 89 cherokee I'm picking up this week runs good just swapping motors for time sake. My motor either needs a timing chain or it has a intermittent stuck valve causing it too back fire like crazy randomly. Plus I lost all oil on the highway not sure i trust the motor too be good anymore.

Of course my slave cylinder decided to die before I could even make it run right so ordering parts for a ax15 swap tonight Have you checked fuel pressure before you replaced the pump? I recently started having a very similar issue and it turned out to be a bad fuel pump where the PO didn't put a strainer on. My fuel pressure at the rail was a few PSI low beforehand, and was exactly at 31psi at idle and 39psi with the FPR vac line removed.

My fuel pressure was good before hsnd but my power issue is only happening while driving so its impossible to check while driving without making some elaborate fuel pressure gauge

It idled great and only had driving issues when it warmed up. A bad pump will worsen with heat. Were you getting the correct aforementioned PSI? I was only 3PSI off at idle so God knows how low I was when it warmed up.

89 MJ Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 That 2.5L overflow is really good. I think it’s the best option for these trucks.

I like it ill like it more when I get rid of the factory air box. I like drivers side over flow better then passanger though too much going on over there for a over flow bottle as well.
hgeranium Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 I envy your mechanic ability. It’s good to hear the engine swap went well
