Shiny Leaf Spring Bushings

Recommended Posts

It's nothing special. An ugly turd right now.

The first Pic is how it sits/sat with those spring sliders in. The bump stops are sitting on the axle. Too low for me. So I cut out new sliders to raise it about ¾"

And thats with 300lbs of "removable" weights in the bed.

It ran a 6.76 / 10.8 last time out. It had an extremely hurt transmission then. I made that 10.8 run and put it on the trailer. After that, it didn't have any other gear but forward. Trans got so hot it welded all the gears together.

Rebuilt it, put a cage in it, head studs, boost controller, these sliders and different shocks, ordered some slicks for it. Should be good to go a little faster now!

So just some quick measurements of how much these sliders lowered the truck...

Setup before the sliders:

I am on a 28" tire.

Original 1990 leafs

And shackles and bushings

150lbs of weight under the bed for traction

20 gallon fuel cell in the bed

Battery in the bed

Assassin bars (traction bars)

-- 31⅛" to bottom  fender flare

After sliders:

I removed the bottom helper spring

Removed stock shackle brackets and shackles

Added sliders

(I measured with 390lbs of simulated weight in the bed to get my slider location, but removed 240lbs for accurate measurement)

--28⅞" to bottom of fender flare

2¼" or so lower

It's about ¾" lower with all the weight in it

Maybe ½"-¾" from bumpstops to axle.

Definitely has a squat to it now...

  • 3 weeks later...

Well, went to the track to test the new rear suspension.... thr first 2 passes, it worked decent. Couldn't tell much difference.

Burnout of the 3rd pass....destruction!

Not with the suspension though..

Blew her up!

That smokey white spot next to the geound cable in the second pic,...thats a whole in the block...

So now it's gonna set for a while.
