EUREKA
Just wanted to get way from having two different keys. Anyone know if this is possible? Thanks
eaglescout526
Yes they can in short. I remember someone asking about this and someone said it’s more of a security thing.
jdog
They can, the hard part is finding the key that will work on both, they have the grooves in different places. You can also swap out to a later column if your floor shift and change the locks if you can find an xj from 93-95 iirc these use a single double cut key
EUREKA
Thanks guys! I have column shift, and I kinda prefer it too. I'm waiting to hear back from my local locksmith.
87MJTIM
I thought the number of tumblers were different from the door and ignition keys.
fiatslug87
There was a post by @Eagle saying the number of tumblers are different like 87MJTIM said, for Renix era.
schardein
My 91 XJ and 91 MJ use one key for both ignition and door locks. Well, one key each, not one for both vehicles. As long as the 91 style key switch will fit the earlier column, I don't see why it couldn't be done.
