The86manche
The biggest thing to my understanding is that you will need to relocate the motor mounts on the frame side.
The86manche
As far as wiring and such though that would be difficult I think because the renix ecu is located under the dash and the yj ecu is on the exterior firewall. The yj and mj/xj harness is very different..
ghetdjc320
You’re talking about running your Renix MJ 4.0 in a 94 YJ correct? As far as the electronics are concerned you might as well swap to obd1 as the YJ never had Renix (they had a carbed 4.2 from 87-90. 91 switched to obd1/4.0HO. I forgot the 2.5 was in the YJ in those years.

Yup! lots of folks forget, but thats also where I can seem to find alot of 2.5L TBI testing info funny enough.
Pete M
more or less nothing is in the same place between the YJ and MJ and so you'll be inventing as you go.

pizzaman09
Like most engine management systems, it's all about just having the right sensors in the right places. The engine harness is still going to be engine bay shaped. I'd grab it all and swap it over. Drill a few holes in the firewall to send the wires through and hook it up. You basically already have the full package, the mechanical connections and ancillary packaging are probably going to be the main hurdles. You can certainly look at the six cylinder YJs for inspiration for a lot of it. The connectors on the Renix ECU don't look very waterproof to me so if you mount it under the hood, consider the weatherproofness.

Pete M
bonus points if you run all new wiring and just reused the connectors!
