oleskool
Put it to work this weekend. I can definitively say you can fit 40’s with a stock suspension pretty sure I can squeeze 43’s if I try

oleskool
Well it’s about a month to late for this but I couldn’t pass up the advanced adapters AX15 external slave bell housing kit. Snagged this locally for $250. Figured when the internal craps out again I’ll have this bad boy ready for the external swap!

oleskool
Had a grinding noise every time I turn right so I figured it was time to check the front wheel bearings. Sure enough they had seen better days. These were original and put up a damn good fight. I ended up using the power steering as a press. Used a deep well socket on the lower two knuckle bolts and tapped the hub with a hammer as I kept pressure on the gun with the steering wheel. Worked like a charm. oleskool
Also got a chance to put on the new valance. Super stoked to have this piece back. The PO took it off with the flares and was never to be seen again lol. Amazing how far this little truck has come from last July. I’ve put 5k miles on it since I got it running and I can honestly say it’s been a joy owning this thing! Even with all its quirkiness

oleskool
Finally found a rear sliding glass window lock and sometime to put it in. This was a pain to find but sliding the window with the glass was getting old lol.
oleskool
Finally found some time to do some more work to the truck free moving. Next in the list is AC repair…. It’s hot in the south lol. Decided to hold off swapping the system to 134A and bought some R12A cans (frosty freeze) from a friend of mine that does AC repair. I had a low pressure gauge sitting in the toolbox so I figured for a few bucks it was worth a shot to see if I could get the air cold. Note: the AC tried to work before charging. It would kick in and run it just wasn’t working properly. The charge was definitely low. About half a can and it was up to pressure. After that it worked but I noticed my fan wasn’t kicking on. Jumped the relay and nothing. It clicked over but no fan. Put 12v straight to the fan and got it to work. It was odd, this is the first relay I’ve had that would click over but not transfer power. Usually when I’ve had them fail they won’t switch at all. Swapped the relay out for one I had in the parts bin and boom. 43 degree air coming out the vents. Going to be nice driving to and from work now lol.

oleskool
Decided to restore the hood light…. It was a hot mess but pretty easy to clean up. Be careful with the wrap spring inside. It likes to jump out at ya lol. Waiting in some M3 button head screws so I can finish the assembly.
oleskool
Now that the AC works I got the dreaded pool of water in the passenger floorboard. Had to snake the drain out and clean out about 30 years worth of mud. 43F air on a 98 degree day is awesome though. Should have fixed it sooner lol. oleskool
Finally got around to buttoning up the under hood light. Refurb the contacts, adjusted the wrap spring so it actually retracts and greased the pivots. It’s nice to have this thing working again.

That could be helpful to many in the master index. What color SEM paint did you use for the navy blue? How close a match to o.e.m. was it? Glad to hear someone actually read through it! If any in the future needs more details I can gladly assist. Pretty straight forward but definitely be careful opening up the housing! For the SEM I used Shadow Blue. I believe it was listed in the color match section for interior here on the forums. How good does it match? Its definitely darker than the faded panels I had. I can't say if it is darker than a NOS piece that has never seen sun though. The color is extremely nice in my opinion and looks great in the truck. Prep work is the key to success when painting the panels. I can take a comparison of the lower vs upper dash if needed. I have not restored the upper dash yet. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZS53TCG/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A1726FV1UK488L&th=
Pete M
yeah, if you could whip together a writeup for the underhood light in the DIY section, that'd be beyond awesome
oleskool
Spent the day working on the cruise control. After a lot of tracing wires and vac lines I finally found that the brake switch should have 2 sets of wires hooked to it. All this time I thought those two connectors were dual redundancy for the brakes. Guess the second set was for cc lol. I had to cut the connector of and splice in terminals because the connector was in rough shape. After all that work we finally have CC!

oleskool
Finally picked up a unicorn or at least for me lol. Almost perfect rear bumper. Going to strip it and freshen it up before it goes on the truck. Only been looking for over an year!

oleskool
Finally got some time to prep the new to me rear bumper and the Reese hitch. Acid etched for rust and a few coats of farm paint should do the trick.
oleskool
While I’m at it I decided to work on the black plastic trim. This dupli color trim paint works great. Here are the door jam covers. The plastic for the bumpers are next!
oleskool
Finally put all the bits and pieces together (mainly plastic parts for the bumper etc) and found time to throw it on today. While the new to me bumper isn’t perfect I massaged as much of the dents and dings out as I could and said it was good enough. If this was a show truck I would have chopped cut and rewelded several areas on this thing but for my beater it’s definitely a good improvement. Nice to have the hitch finally installed too! oleskool
Power windows here we come. Couldn’t pass up a set of doors off an 87 Cherokee. Now to figure out to dismantle them and swap everything over to my doors.
