Making dinner last night, I get a text on my phone.  It's from Capital One, and it's a 2-factor ID text with a confirmation code for the card in my wallet.  Great, I've been hacked (again).  Called the number on the card this morning and found out there were three charges attempted on it yesterday.  First one was for $1 (the "fishing" charge) that they denied.  Then two other charges (that were still pending).  One was for about $200 to flowers.com, and the other one was for.........$400 for an "escort" service.  It's surely a sign that I'm getting old.  I never knew hookers accepted credit cards:laugh:

Of course, my wife is questioning me now, just to poke fun at me.  I told her she knows I'd never pay $200 for some flowers, and damn sure wouldn't ever pay $400 for the other.

Good reminder I need to go check my mail. I'm waiting on a new card as well, I got hit a couple weeks ago, $200 spent on onlyfans. Scammers must be lonely people, lol.

I mean what else is there to do when you’re a computer nerd who never left the basement? Lol.

That sucks though. I had an issue once that kept happening where somehow someone kept getting my card info from the QT gas station. Haven’t given them business since.

gotta be a reason that doesn't involve actual flowers.  that's far too much of a coincidence for both of you to experience the same weird thing.

I would assume the wanna be Casanova that skimmed my card bought his "date" some flowers.  LOL.

Last hack I had was for several repeated attempts to purchase electronic equipment at a Best Buy in Florida (which got denied), but the did manage to buy a $15 drink at a hotel bar later that same day.  Credit card company asked me if I bought the drink the previous evening.......I said probably not, considering I'm in Virginia and the hotel was in Florida.

I had it happen to my check card a few years ago. Someone trying to buy porn or escort in TURKEY! I had to go to the bank to deny the charges and get a new card sent.

I just did it through my bank’s mobile app. Took all of five minutes.

I don’t think their hand is particularly worried about flowers…
