knever3
I remember a thread about a tailgate lock years ago, but I don't remember the link to the part. I am tired of closing the tailgate and having the hinges bind up and then the tailgate tries to fall off. I want to install a lock for two reasons, theft and to prevent chipping the paint and you can imagine other things. Does anyone have any updated links to something like this? Muncher
Mine binds up all the time. Two things you could do is get rid of the hinges and uses cables instead or put the bolts in that are supposed to be there that I still haven't done yet
Muncher
This little plate near where the tailgate mounts should be bolted in to prevent falling off

Pete M
is the bolt tight?
eaglescout526
53 minutes ago, Muncher said: My bad picture didn't go through at first I fixed this issues actually. I just put a bolt through the other side to flatten that alignment hole and I haven’t had any issues. Also it helps if the tailgate is pushed toward the drivers side and everything is lubed as they should be. Then you’ll get quiet closing and latching results. fiatslug87
I remember @Gjeepmaking a tailgate handle lock, for the rest of us mere mortals a hose clamp may deter or at least slow down a thief.
watchamakalit
Your tailgate shouldn't just fall off. I can open mine and drop it, slam it shut as hard as I want and it won't fall off. I would say you have a bent hinge or something else at play. A tailgate lock of any kind will just be a bandaid over a gunshot so to speak. knever3
The cups seem very loose, especially on the right side. When you raise and lower the tailgate it moves around. I will shoot a video tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
fiatslug87
They bolt down through the cups. Pull the cups off and make sure the alignment "tabs" are not bent. You can also bend the tabs out a little so when you bolt them down there is more force keeping them in place.
