Purple JKU

Recommended Posts

This is my Mom’s 2017 JKU. We got it last year with 35,000 miles on it. It had tipped on the driver side and skidded down the road. We fixed it and got it inspected. At that point, no mods were done, so I never started a build thread.  Now the mods are going to be starting, so I am starting a build thread. It has had a set of rock sliders installed and we just installed the fancy Rubicon hood. Thanks to @eaglescout526 for hooking us up with the hood vents.

The new hood made it look much more aggressive.

My mother has been doing some wheel shopping. They are either going to be polished aluminium or chrome. She has also been looking at bumpers and has her front bumper picked out. The plan on this one is to run 35s as well.

Teaser pic. It’s a Metalcloak 3.5” lift, or so it said. It’s up about 7-8” over stock. The sway bar end links are 6.5” longer than stock. This is with the front tires sitting on the ground, the lift is not supporting the front end.
Yes I know the suspension will settle, but I don’t think it’s coming down to the 3.5” that it is supposed to be. Not that I’m complaining, but my mom is 5’2”. The hood is up to her chin.

Fun fun.

Oh yeah. Perhaps it’s in the future if yours too?

I assume they sent the wrong box?  :dunno:

That was our first thought, but the part numbers cross reference to the 3.5” lift. This thing is taller than my dad’s SOA YJ on 35s.

Any mods for the driveshafts?

For the 3.5”, you can keep stock ones, you just need to install exhaust spacers. Because this lift clearly isn’t 3.5”, I have no idea for driveshafts. It looks like the front will work once we get the exhaust spacers in.

We figured out the lift issue. Turns out, Metalcloak lifts are x number of inches over a Rubicon lift. Rubicon’s are 1.5” higher than any other JK, so we really got a 5” lift.

Driveshafts still good? :shhh:

Yes they are. I was surprised.

Pics comparing height to SOA YJ. The Comanche is next to the garage if you look close.
