Replace entire floor pan or just the LH and RH sides?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm looking into replacing my rusted out floor pans. I've seen the LH and RH side floor pans that are weld or bolt in, but I haven't seen anyone replacing the entire floor pan with a single piece as shown by #1 in the diagram below. The website says this is Mopar overstock, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with how this would work, or why it wouldn't work? It seems cheap enough and supposedly is OEM.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

You can try, but they won't have that part in stock. I'm sure many other people have tried as well. The full Cherokee floor was for sale for a bit, but I think it's discontinued as well now. You're best off getting the left and the right Floors which will need modification to fit correctly. Key parts is the best brand in my opinion. this is a complete Comanche floor I picked from Canada several years ago for reference

In order to do the whole floor pan, you would probably need to take everything out of your interior, including the dash. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, just letting you know. It would also be taking a lot of structure out of the truck when you do that. Again, if you can support the cab and make sure that it doesn't shift or flex at all, you should be fine. Do you have a picture of what your floors look like currently?

Replacing the whole floor pan stamping might be a bit extreme, but I'd pay $215 for the chance to cut a chunk out of a NOS one.

Beware of those "parts overstock" type places. Almost none of them actually have the parts, but they'll do everything they can to make it look like they do, including listing a price and giving an option to add it to a cart. Your local dealership or one of our friendly CC members would be able to get you just as much, probably more.

Just know that these trucks are getting to the age where the supply of NOS parts on the open market is being picked down to nearly nothing, so manage your expectations. I did some radio work for a gentleman who built multiple very, very nice Jeeps practically out of NOS parts, and even he says most of the NOS stuff is gone.
