2.5L electrical fan

Recommended Posts

Have any of my 2.5L brethren done any electrical fan installs? Kinda want to attempt to put a fan in front of the condenser type deal. I know there are low profile ones that could fit but just curious if any of you have tried this. No I don't want to swap out the mechanical fan.

I removed the mechanical fan for straight electric using a fan controller. I can't comment on putting one in front of the radiator, I know there isnt much room there, but if you can make one or two small ones fit, it would just be a matter of mounting them and wiring them up.

I am in Canada so I can run no fan.....

But to answer your question, (this is assuming you don't have V-belts) if you  changed out to a rad for a 4.0 and got the rad ... mech fan bearing ....and electric fan ... there should be no reason you could not set it up using a serpentine belt from a 4.0 and the electric fan in the same configuration as a 4.0.

It might take a bit of fab and head scratching but the front of a 2.5 is basically the same configuration? Mech fan on the left and electric on the right. Then it is all off the shelf parts, and the fan is behind the rad.

I’ll do some research and see what I can find. I was looking more to do something that could bolt to the condenser as there’s already mounting points that go through the condenser to the radiator.

unfortunately the 4.0 and 2.5 don’t share the same serp set up. But I also haven’t tried to install a 4.0 alt and AC bracket.

I want to revisit this. I think I might be able to try to rig a 4.0L fan in front of the condenser. I see plenty of space in between the grill support and condenser, but my question is this. The only reason I am considering such is just because 1.) I have the fan and 2.)sitting idle in some place for an extended amount of time in the summer say the drive-in would help and allow me to run the AC in the cab while sitting. So my question is this, under normal wiring the fan pulls air from the flat side but if I have it in front of the condenser and wired it regularly it would pull heat and blast it out the grill. If I reverse the wiring it would pull more air in and assist the mechanical fan. Which would be the smart way to approach this? Blast the heat out the grill or assist the mechanical?
