Fernando87mj Posted September 1, 2020 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Well I got another one ladies and gents . had been wanting a wrangler for a while to take over as a daily so I could focus on my Comanches more but after thinking it out I wanted something more comfortable to drive after a long days of work. Found this sweet 93 zj limited 4.0. Was excited and was hoping it would have the aw4 but nope it has 42re. But that’s fine. Overall it drives pretty dang good. I pulled a roadkill and traveled to San Diego with some friends to go pick it up. Plan was to trailer it home but said screw it and just drove it all the way home to Vegas. Was a little sketched out at first but this thing really impressed me. It handled the long drive home with no issues. Now that I’ve had it for almost 2 months I’m aware of some issues. Biggest issue by far is that the engine is burning some oil. It’s going through a quart every thousand miles. It’s at 197k as of now but apart from the oil burning issue it runs really good. Previous owners were very kind and invested a good amount of money in this thing. New sway bar links , track bar , steering box , tie rods , rotors , drums , calipers , wheel cylinders , wheel alignment and a few other little things. Thing does drive really nice. My plan is to give it a second lease in life and bring it back to it’s former glory. This will stay stock. The aftermarket radio in it looked extremely out of place. also bought a overhead console display module Since the one that was in it didn’t work. also replace windshield washer level sensor since it kept having the infamous washer sensor bad error message. I honestly can’t thank whoever did this radio install , they didn’t butcher any wires at all. Made the install of the oem radio so easy. looks more appropriate now. I’m going to install new water pump , thermostat , hoses , and fan clutch. Just want to have peace of mind with the cooling system. I Also need to eventually get new tires and change all the fluids. Used dawn soap and let it soak in it for a while and then took it to car wash and power washed all the brown crud out of it. going to let it dry , hopefully won’t take to long considering it’s been 100+ here in Vegas . ill post more pics of it once it dries Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is a little faded but It’s better than having a bunch of holes in it. also put the center bezel back in after replacing the bulbs while I was it. Also picked up a dash mat when I was at the jy. Yea , think the lighting in that last pic wasn’t helping , ordered a brochure for a 93 zj so I can learn more about the colors and options available, I’ve learned that info for A 93-95 zj isn’t as In depth as an xj. I’ve been on the fence about going back to an OEM radio as well. The PO put in a reasonably decent head unit in, and while I appreciate the fact that I’ve got Bluetooth and can play music off my phone, it looks pretty seriously out of place. I unfortunately don’t live too close to any wrecking yards, so I haven’t put much effort into trying to find anything to replace it. Good looking example though. But it’s cool to see the contrast in how they wear. Up here they rust out from the bottom up, but the interiors mostly stay in decent shape. You pretty much hit the nail on the head with what you said , I really like the 93-95 look Much more than the 96-98 , and I agree this one has worn the complete opposite, the body and undercarriage is amazing due to living in California it’s whole life but the interior is another story. Don’t know what paint Chrysler used but some of it is peeling from the dash and the drivers seat is torn and the headliner will need to be replaced. But I really enjoy this zj. This one will be staying in the collection. Same. I didn’t really give the ZJ much though until I found this one, and with the factory manual I couldn’t pass it up. But it’s so much more comfortable to drive than any of my XJs or MJs... although I’ll admit the XJs were mostly parts rigs that went on the occasional stupid road trip. I’ve been doing some long highway commutes with the ZJ the last couple weeks, and it’s a noticeable difference over the 2.5 MJ that screams along at 3000rpm. I don’t need to shout at passengers, it’s happy doing 80mph, it’s great. And the cruise works. And I can get parts at any old parts store, and find them in wrecking yards not completely picked clean.
