ghetdjc320
I’ve had these small holes on my tailgate where it looks like an emblem goes. It’s a 91 so the 4.0 badge goes on the other side.
ghetdjc320
Looks to me like where a metric ton badge would go but I don’t know if they actually had “alignment pins” that fit these holes.
fiatslug87
Maybe it was one of those dealer emblems, nothing from the factory used fasteners.
ghetdjc320
That could be. It quite a bit wider than the 4.0 emblem and the holes look like factory and are very clean.
Dzimm
As fiatslug87 said, the factory emblems were held on with double sided tape so there were no holes. Is it the original tailgate to the truck as far as you know? Dealer tag of some kind would be my guess, can't believe they would put holes in it though. Maybe a PO did it? Minuit
That seems like a typical place for a dealer badge. Otherwise, no idea. If I were buying the truck new, there would be absolutely no words for how pissed I would be if the dealer drilled holes in the tailgate for their stupid badge. Agreed lol, why not just use a sticker?

You can take a sticker off, someone is a lot less likely to remove a dealers badge if it's actually mounted to the truck. It would be pure evil but I could see a dealer going that far for a little advertising.
Pete M
didn't 86 MJs have a thing over there?
