The Evil MJ - my new toy

Recommended Posts

I've been an on-and-off Jeep lover since I was a kid.  I've had a couple CJs, a couple XJs, and this is my first MJ; I must say I love it!  I had planned on buying a good donor and starting a build myself, but I found this one for a steal, and it is almost exactly how I would have build one myself.  IMG_20191215_101225x.jpg

Thanks guys.  The bed is quite simply made.  I wish it was a little wider (~4" to match cab), but I think it was made to match frame and avoid inner wheel wells.  It bolts on and filler panels between cab and fenders bolt-on as well.  Easy enough to repair if damaged on the trail.  Maybe I should start making them to sell... lol

I went there when I was in college at GMI/Kettering many moons ago.  Great place if you like German food lol.  We are tired of going to Florida every year (parents have a snowbird home down there).  We'll need to decide something soon - the ho ho ho is upon us.  Weather still looking to be in the upper 30s next week up there?

Well, the work has began.   Replaced the DS door mirror yesterday with a cheap one from AM Auto (ebay) yesterday.  The mirror is plastic, but fits well.  The cable, however is a different story - as some of the reviews mentioned, it is TOO long.  I managed to cram it back into the mirror housing, but the control is a bit wonky.  As a plus, I managed to secure my door pull, and found out unfortunately that my door card has been wet and is deteriorating  - old truck problems.

Anyone know how to replace the spring on a door handle or know a good place to find replacements?

My a pillar light brackets and lights came in yesterday - $30 total on ebay.  Seem like good quality; I'll post pics when I install them.

Just take it apart and put it back together with new spring. Its all nuts and bolts.  Do you have a hynes manual, should have a break down for door.

Didn't see any bolts when I had the handle out... doesn't matter, I found that I had several extra handles still in the old Cherokees up on the hill.  Score!!

I've been doing some work to the MJ.  Added a double din Android head unit and reupholstered the head liner this weekend.  Still have to address the missing center vent after the radio relocate.  More to come.  Speakers ordered for the overhead sound bar as well as an amp.  Found a low mile window regulator to order on www.partshotlines.com, still have the harness for the lights (which may move to make room for the snorkel I bought), and the backup camera to install.  When you're lifted, it's really hard to see what is right behind you!
