Jtslick89
I see what is advertised as a 1990 Comanche with power locks and windows. Owner got it in a trade and doesn't know entire history. Is this definitely at 97+ Cherokee swap or just the bucket seats/interior? I'm looking for a more traditional MJ so I was curious if these features (power locks/windows) were ever available in order to determine what's been done to the front end/doors. Thanks! eaglescout526
Bucket seats and power everything could be had from the factory. If there’s a VIN I can look up the build sheet and can see if it was ever a swap or factory.
fiatslug87
The doors have been swapped out since it's a single piece of glass along with the door panels and those are not '90 seats. The dash and center console are period correct for a '90.
NHMJXJ
Early model Laredo trim had optional factory power locks and windows. That trim level was the most feature rich (for MJ's) I've seen. Edited November 19, 2019 by NHMJXJ

I am new but there are 2 Comanches I am looking at. This one and a 1987 4x4 short bed I6 automatic that needs a complete RESTO, floor pans, rockers, etc... Does the dash/odometer area look like Comanche or Cherokee or impossible to tell?
eaglescout526
The dash still looks stick to that model year.

Jtslick89
Or Cherokee door swap?
eaglescout526
Cherokee door swap and seats have been done. Those aren’t original factory panels or seats. So my best guess is they swapped those with ease but didn’t do a full 97+ swap.
Dzimm
Agree with above, not a full 97+ swap. From that picture it looks as though just the doors were swapped and some other seats as others have mentioned. Do you have any pictures of the front end? The front end can be swapped easily as well but as a whole this looks very much original still.
Jtslick89
Gotcha, I really appreciate your help! My search continues bc I'm looking for a more authentic old school MJ
Minuit
Power windows and locks were available up to, I believe, 1990. By 1991 they definitely were NOT available.
tugalo
the instrument panel that i have has blue kilometer markings on it face, versus the red on your speedometer. Looks like someone swapped in a Cherokee dash panel.

Looks like someone swapped in a Cherokee dash panel. The blue face was up to I believe '88 ('87???), the red was for anything past that. Cherokee and Comanche clusters were the same for respective production years.
tugalo
sounds right, mine is an 88.
87MJTIM
The "blue" gauges have the needles that go from 7 O'clock to 5 O'clock; the "Red" gauges go from 9 to 5. My 87 has the Blue. I pulled an 86 full cluster that is also blue. However, I have seen 87 and 88's that had Red clusters - both full and idiot lights. I think the clusters were what ever Jeep had in the parts bin when you MJ/XJ rolled by on the assembly line.
Minuit
The red gauge cluster was introduced for '88, or possibly late in the '87 model year. The '87 blue cluster is unique to that model year but it is compatible with '87 through '90 vehicles. The '84 to '86 cluster looks similar but is very different otherwise.
