yxmj
From you signature and build thread....you converted to 4x4? What front axle did you use? Is there a junk yard in you area that would have XJ's of that era? Otherwise you would have to start canvassing the parts stores or on line..... Jeep Driver
You could have walked into Autozone and walked out with two new CV shafts and had been on the road in 3 hours. If you are not a hard core rock bouncer type.......CVs are just fine. This option has been discussed here many times.
watchamakalit
Crap. I didnt even think of CV shaft. It shouldnt hurt anything to run one CV and the other u joint shaft should it? What model do I need to source from? I have a disconnect front. What other steps need to be taken? Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to figure the simplest way to get my truck back on the road. gogmorgo
Shouldn't be an issue running a CV on only the one side, especially since you're looking for the driver's side. The ujoint doesn't know what's going on with the shaft on the other side. That said I would do (and have done) both myself, but you should know that if you put a single-piece shaft into the CAD housing, it won't seal properly on that side. There is a seal you can get that will do the job. There should be a DIY thread on here about prepping the CAD axle housing for a one-piece shaft.
