89 MJ
Here is a list of the projects that I have been involved in since joining here: Now back to your regularly scheduled program. I have been lurking on here for a couple of months now and I decided I should start my build thread. I have an 89 Sportruck with a 4.0, pukegoat, 4x4. It is a southern truck that was brought up north a couple of years ago. I bought it a few months ago. Here are some pics of when I got it:
89 MJ
Right away I took the flares off to inspect the rust. Compared to some of the things I have seen, it is pretty good.
89 MJ
I cut the rust out and started welding in patch panels. My brother helped remove the flares.
89 MJ
After I fixed the rust (more pics to come), I did body work and primed the bed. BTW I bout this and a 97 XJ for $1,
89 MJ
The silver door in the above pic I about with another rust free door for $75. Not my bodywork on the door.
89 MJ
Here I am welding in patches (I was 14 at the time, now I am 15). I used an XJ fender for the patch on one side, the other side I made.
89 MJ
In the background of the fender pic, you can see my 1972 Bolens Husky 1556 garden tractor LMK if you want to see a post about it.
89 MJ
Here she is with some 31s. It does sit outside for the winter, but I make sure it does not get a lot of snow on it. It did come inside when it was -40 here. I got it stuck in the yard with bald 235s on it, so we put the 31s on it.

I plan on painting it (grey or blue) and running 31s on it for now. Eventually, I want to do a v8 swap and a lift.
All around mj
I like the way you think. You have an idea for future plans and taking one step at a time. My project has pretty much all become future plans because everything is always $$$. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. The only problem, which isn’t a huge deal if you are putting flares back on it is, the wheel openings aren’t quite the same so it doesn’t look great up close. From a far it looks okay though. I’ll see if I can get an up close pic of that soon.
89 MJ
Picked up some Cherokee rockers from a friend who had them laying around. Hopefully they will be able to work on my driver side rocker. Also, my grandma has a 5.3 with 74,000 miles on it. The project it is going in is probably not going to happen for a few years, so I am kinda tempted to buy that from her. What do you guys think? Pete M
is it in a vehicle that you'd be buying/storing whole? or an engine block that will then be sitting on the floor in a corner of a shed for a couple years?
