Anyone ever had to replace the starter relay?

I suspect mine to be faulty, right now I'm getting two alternating scenarios.

A. - turn key, nothing no dash. Battery tests at 95% with 12.5v. No broken fuses. No loose wires.

B. - turn key everything comes up as it should, turn to starter, small humming no crank, everything goes off like someone disconnected the battery.

New items, optima red top battery, alternator, starter...

(just ordered a set of cables from meanlemons too)

Suspect culprit.

So, side question to go with this, should RockAuto run out of these eventually, or just to make ease of finding/purchasing by making more selection...

I found this one that has the diagram on the side of it... I was wondering if it was possible to eliminate the F pin by connecting it to the threaded post?

anyone with electrical knowledge have some advice?

for me that scenario always meant a poor connection to the battery.  have you cleaned the mating surface between the battery and clamps?

Disconnected, lightly sanded post and connector. no difference.

I've notice that both old and new relays have Pin F. I believe that pin feeds (BAL circuit) the fuel pump during CRANK, bypassing the ballast resistor. Connecting Pin F to BATT (threaded stud) would cause fuel pump to run constantly.

What about connected to the sol pin?

Worn ignition switch.  Contacts making intermittent connections. Wounded see your A and B in first post

I'll open the column up and take a peek at it.

Actually turned out to be the suspected relay.

Going to still run more tests to make sure it doesn't happen again for any reason at all...

Replaced and runs again.

Where'd you get the relay? Part number?

Rockauto Few remaining.... more expensive on Amazon.

SR123

Also linked in my build page

Found by backtracing the number that was on the originals mount arm. Got lucky I suppose :applause:

When that Chinese Airtex relay burns up, get a Mopar relay on Ebay for a bit more $$ HERE.

Got my fingers crossed that it doesn't... thanks for the mopar link!

I'll revive this when it dies just for the laughs.

Hopefully it won't take out anything else when it smokes.   :L:

Only raggin' on ya a bit. It'll be fine.

It died again.....

Same symptoms as before.

Got one from napa to test if it's that part... oddly enough it looks like the exact one I put in...

Napa part number AR578

Gonna have to trace wires and start replacing stuff....

Maybe eliminate some of them from the relays battery post... LOL... not a clue what most of them go to.

Yes, you have to clean that mess up and see where those wires go. Most of that stuff is foreign wiring.

NAPA's no better than any of the other parts houses, they buy C.R.A.P. from Won Hung Lo too. Grab a regulation Mopar relay HERE .
