I literally look to see where the  was point at the rotor make sure the crank was on top dead center and make sure the distributor point was a little Vance that's how I check timing . Been working on cars since I was 7 years old and that's how my dad told me to put things in time so that's how I check the time 57 years old

Well, I'm 74 years old and I was working on cars before you were born. The way you describe may get the timing close (sort of), but it won't get it "dead on."

That said, if there's no power to the CPS or coil, there's obviously something amiss. But I would suggest trying to figure out where the problem is before you start throwing parts at it. Was it running and suddenly stopped, or is this a vehicle that's new to you?

MrBill61, start from the bottom with a fresh mind, check for power and good ground(s) for the ignition system. Ensure the rotor in the dizzy actually turns and that there is no moisture in there. Seasoned gearheads sometimes get their butt kicked by simple issues that are easily missed. Come back with the result, good day...

If you had replaced the CPS with a genuine Mopar unit instead of using aftermarket junk you would only have to do it once.

Okay well you're claiming a dealer had five cps's in stock and two of the five were bad the other three we don't know about only the two you bought but we have no idea what you bought and I'd like to know I'm assuming you have a remix how I dealer had five cps's in stock when nobody else can find them

And we have no idea what it is that you bought

And yes I photo document every part

Great that you figured this out MrBill61. When we install a new part we make a very big assumption that it is good. So when we get a new part that is bad, we tend to rule out the part we replaced as the problem. That makes things double-tough.
