Is that the rear attachment point for the front fenders?
One of them, they are just mocked in right now. Gonna be taken on and off a bunch before paint because the lines need to be cleaned up and fitted. Once they are good and set they'll be mounted more permanent.

Not a lot has been going on lately. Been busy with work, welding school and whatnot. But this weekend had some free time. The Satofab bumper was no longer in production but the owner offered to make the bumper again for nearly 200$ more than it used to cost. Luckily I still have the contact info of the guy who bought my LS comanche that had that bumper on it and hell sell it back to me. But for the meantime I wanted fog lights, so i got some cheap chinese LED pods that were flush mount and scabbed them into the stock bumper. Last week got a fix it ticket for a tail light bulb so took the chance to change every bulb in the truck to LED as well. When I installed the bedsides and removed the rear bumper I never finished cutting out the old bedsides, and tail light surrounds. Plus I removed the lower valance behind where the spare tire mounts so i trimmed all that as well in the name of clearance and visual appeal. Lots of little wins while I'm patiently waiting for things to fall into place for the axle builds and powertrain upgrade. My 1979 F250 Hp D44 is being delivered before the end of the year. I can pick up a matching 9'' rear any day of the week around here for 150$ or I might just beef up the MJ dana 44 and throw some discs on it. I'm trying to gather parts for the powertrain upgrade but I'm very back and forth between a turbo 4.0 or a SBC build. I don't have to worry about smog, so options are open, Probably not going to do an LS as ive already been down that road. I want as little electronics as possible in this one.

The shell looks awful... you should send it to me in Texas!

Seriously - looks great.  Can't wait to see where the build goes!

Thank you! Looking like the shell is being pulled off onto another jeepers MJ tomorrow, We will see.

If you don't want it, and they end up not wanting it... let me know.  Maybe we can figure out shipping it cross country.  I really want one for my short bed.

I love the way it is coming together. Also how did you polish your wheels?

I used mothers polish. Did a really good powerwash, first round of polish with a ratty coarse rag, then clean, then another round of mothers polish with a microfiber. Gave it a nice polished, not shiny look. Very deep aluminum color. Spent about 1.5 hours on each wheel and it came out nicely. Just mothers aluminum polish compound.

Before is actually more shiny than after (tire mounted photo) but I was actually glad about that, I didnt want the shiny look, otherwise id have gotten chrome rims.

Gotcha, just take your time and make sure to use a decent quality product and process. They will come out nice as long as they arent damaged. My extra set of wheels had clearcoat peeling so I powerwashed them and didnt go any further and you can see how much better the good condition wheels are, even though they havent been cleaned in a month or so.

Been a busy week. First and foremost I took the lady and the jku up to Johnson Valley to pickup my front axle I've owned for almost a year but didn't have access to. I bought it because it was too good of a deal to pass up at the time even though I had an XJ on rockjock 44s. But I knew one day I would have something that needed it. And here we are. So first photo is the housing. It's a 1979 F-250 Dana 44. This is the one with the 3"x 1/2" axle tubes. And normally it comes with the 8 lug outers that have dual piston brakes. But the same year F-150 Dana 44's have interchangeable outers. So I also got the 5x5.5 F-150 outers and single piston calipers. With this setup I'll net around a 66" WMS front axle. The F-150 of those years has a rear Ford 9" at a 66" WMS as well. So I'll be sourcing one of those soon.

The next set of photos are my new rims. To anyone who knows broncos or F-150s of the early to mid 90's might recognize these wheels. They are a Ford and Alcoa partnership wheel. These are incredibly strong and super light. 15x7.5 in size with a 5x5.5 bolt pattern.

With these narrower wheels, and wider axles I'll end up being pretty close to the same stance I currently have, but with a much nicer wheel to axle geometry and scrub radius. And much stronger axles in the end.

I'll be running 35*10.5*15 all terrain tires either in the General or BFG flavor. Undecided yet.
I'm planning to stretch the front a little for packaging reasons and it'll help out not having to reconfigure the front driveshaft also. it sounds like there's gotta be a story there
When I lived in Arizona I bought it there, when I moved back to socal I couldn't fit it in the back of the XJ along with all my belongings so it stayed with a friend. That friend is wheeling in Johnson Valley this weekend and agrees to bring it if I met him there to get it.
