voecks1
Does anyone have a picture of a stock OEM rear bumper of a 1989 Comanche (Base)? Or know where I could buy one? Thanks!

Pete M
yes. the bumper delete (or whatever it was called) was an option you needed to check.
gogmorgo
As to where you can buy them... Good luck. You might find one at a wrecker, although most are pretty beat up, rusted out, or both, by the time they make it to a yard. They do sometimes come up on Craigslist or eBay for a pretty good dime. 54bobby
i have the fey and it's pretty close.
Eagle
That Fey universal is probably as close as you're going to get, but IMHO it's not very close. I keep wondering if it might be possible to somehow attach MJ bumper end caps to the Fey bumper. That would make it look a lot better. 54bobby, were you able to use the Fey brackets as they came out of the box, or did they require grinding to eliminate body interference? WahooSteeler
I have an early 2000s S10 bumper on mine. It's a tad narrow so if you wheel your lower bed corners could be exposed a little more than with a stock bumper. Some have commented they don't like the look that it's narrow, but IMO when looking at it from behind it follows the taper of the bed corners and looks pretty good. I'm curious about the gauge of the original bumpers vs. the Fey/Westin ones. Are they the same? I'm thinking the originals might be a bit heavier. I guess you could go with what you want (within reason) if you fabricate a replica. Has anyone fabricated a rear bumper using a front bumper as a starting point? And I think people have used a front bumper on the rear. Looks...ok..For a good looking bumper, I'd go with dirtbound. Might be an "offroad" bumper but it's the best looking option I think. I found one that could have been restored ... but I had to take the whole truck and that was the only good part on it! I have a set of JCR bumpers off of my old XJ that I was going to use (front is easy - rear can be modified) but I'm now leaning toward stock or stock slightly modified. I won't be off roading my MJ. Basic uses will be camping, fishing, kayaking, trips to Home Depot ... and the dump of course!

But what do you do about a license plate and light? The cops are strict about license plate lights around here.
HOrnbrod
I think it would be quite easy to find a couple of miniature LED fixtures to mount on each side on the plate holder...
PCO6
An interesting fabrication project would be to convert an XJ front bumper in to an MJ rear step bumper. It wouldn't be that hard ... it's only metal!
