Renix flywheel

Recommended Posts

You'll have to have a renix flywheel for your renix engine.  The CPS is different between HO and renix.

EDIT - I may have read your post incorrectly.  If you were asking if you needed the specific year.. or if it just had to be a renix flywheel..I apologize.

If their flywheels are as good as their clutch kits I'd say go for it. I had throwout bearing failure in the AX-15 in my XJ at 40K miles, replaced it with a Luk clutch. That was almost 15 years ago and 140K miles later.

I'm not posting this because Luk is not a good brand. I've had no experience with them, and they do seem like one of the leading aftermarket brands.

However, I don't think that the principal that "they had good products 15 years ago", unfortunately, is necessarily true. This is been discussed in several threads. There are several companies, Moog comes to mind, that used to have exceptionally good quality, and now are mostly Chinese junk.

Here is a link which discusses this.

So, I think in such discussions, the question is more "has whatever brand had good quality parts recently?"

Several of the gurus of this board suggest that Mopar parts are well worth the extra cost.

^^^  Agree with this 100%. Even Mopar outsources parts for their newer vehicles now. They haven't produced most Renix-era parts in decades, including the flywheel. If you can find a NOS flywheel, by all means GRAB it. Most likely that isn't going to happen. Everything else (Luk, Crown, Omix, etc.) is a crapshoot.

Why not just get your flywheel resurfaced? Any machine shop can do it?

in the first post I typed, I said that I'm converting a 2wd auto into a 4wd manual. I can't use the one from the donor Jeep because it's a 94 (HO). So I need to source a renix flywheel.
