I’ve got some cool gearhead neighbors. We were all out together yesterday and I snapped some pics of their toys. Gary has a 68 Chevelle that he did a full frame-off resto on…with a big block with 13:1 compression. Yeah, it doesn’t run on pump gas :D (Couple pics of his engine in this older post when we pulled it to swap oil pumps and install a new pan http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4360 )

This is Greg’s latest vehicle. He also has a ’73 Duster, but it’s undergoing renovation currently (it’s stripped to a shell at the moment)

I like the Ruster! I had one with a 318 with 340 forged crank (made it 321) from an old cop car. Sucker hauled @$$ and left lots of double black streaks. Gave a friend a ride in it, and he tried to tell me his '82 Camaro with 350 and dual quad was faster. We did a 1/4 mile time and compared. His eyes got real big (he spent $5,000 on the motor alone) and then I showed him the Dukes of Hazzard moves it could do. We hit a bridge ramp on Zero ave at 120 mph and I landed the car sideways (intentionally. Full roll cage) and we launched straight up the road that was @50 feet past the bridge.

That was before my head injury (car fell on me during the Duvall, WA quake of '95) when my eye hand co-ordination was much better. If I'd had the same condition recently, I probably wouldn't have rolled my '73 J4000 when I swerved into the ditch and came back out to avoid creaming into a dark horse in the middle of the road at night!

All I needed to do was open the driver's door to stop the slow motion roll by changing the center of gravity.

at least I have a replacement for it. Got an '83 J10 longbox to haul my stuff (it'll get the J20 axles I had under the J4000) and it's even in better shape than my monster '84 J10 (which will be @20" of lift when I'm done)

The Comanche will always be my daily driver till it dies though (then it'll get a stroker)

74 cuda..
That was my mom's second car, but a 61.

Her first was a 69 Mustang fastback with every option. A little over a year after she got it off the lot brand new, someone t-boned the car and totaled it. She wished it never happened, said she would have kept the car to this day.

Her cousin still has his 69 fastback with a original silver paint scheme with dark silver stripes, He's the original owner, it still has the original tires on it, never seen a winter, and he drove it for 5 summers after he bought it before he decided to put it in his barn on jack stands. He does start it every now and then, and keeps it in tip top shape. And yes, He watches the Barret Jackson auctions, and I have no clue why he is just looking at it... I wish he would either drive it or sell it. I'd love to have that car, only 8500 miles on her.

Sorry to burst your bubble yet again, but the 'cuda didn't come out until 64, and in my opinion was ugly, as were the 65 and 66's.

been a while since she told me, but it was something fast and something chrysler.
