It has plenty of power on the highway it really just needs a 5th gear. I have the opportunity to get the ms1700 scanner as well as the renix self test computer from work. What are they worth? I want to make my boss a fair offer on them. My boss mistakenly threw a DRB2 in the trash and said he threw out the renix scanners by mistake too. Luckily i found the 2 renix scanners behind some boxes so i hid them lol.
eaglescout526
Depends on who is looking for those scanners. I know I would love to have one but I myself don't know the value.

I kinda want them for my collection but would def lend them out to CC members if they needs to borrow them. The only reason i ask is I see the blue self tester on ebay all the time for around $70 but i rarely see the ms1700 listed on there.
eaglescout526
Yeah those are hard to come by and chances are AMC dealers probably only got one for their shops and who knows how many some of the current operating former AMC dealers have or have tossed plus the ones hidden away like the two you have. strictlyxjs
Working on a little repaint and new decals for the hidden ramsey Rep6000. I used rustoleum satin black on all the brackets and harware and rustoleum hammered dark grey on the winch body which very closely matches the original finish. Got it installed and working tonight went with a wireless remote setup... Need to reinstall my front bumper. Also picked up an np231 21 spline for the 4wd swap. Ordered the correct 10 slot grill for 22 bucks rock auto closeout! Edited December 20, 2021 by strictlyxjs

Going to keep the bellhousing so i can use the externally mounted slave. Check out this "custom" shift fork the previous owner made. Suprisingly it never gave me any issues
MiNi Beast
Looks like 10#s added with that fork. So you going to replace it or keep running it since you had no issues?

I already have one for the set up plus one from another member who got me one from the junkyard as a back up. But it looks like what you have except not home made lol. I’ll find a pic of it. strictlyxjs
Took ride to pick up a new headliner from @acfortier. I recovered it along with the visors using the instructional video posted by tyler over at bleepinjeep. They came out pretty good. now to install them in the truck. Prob going to install the NOS cargo box lamp first so i don't have to take it down again.

strictlyxjs
I picked up a motor tranny and transfer case from a 98 2.5 tj today(only paid $150 I'm going to use the ax5 for my 4wd swap) ill bring it to work with me next saturday and redrill the holes for the t case clocking using the jig we have.. i'll be using the bearing retainer and bellhousing from my ax4 as well as clutch fork to keep it external slave... I'm giving the engine and transfer case to my boss since i have no use for them. As far as i can tell the pressure plate and clutch disk have the same p/n whether its an 86 or 98 so i will prob keep these ones because they are brand new. Does anyone see anything wrong with these plans?
MiNi Beast
Only thing i wonder is the input shaft diameter between the two. otherwise it seems like you would have everything needed for the swap.
eaglescout526
AX5 didnt change much over the years. Now the AX15 is where alot of the change issues lie.

I was actually worried about that too. (You can see my measuring tape in The picture) i checked them with a set of calipers and they seem to be identical. The older bearing retainer is a bit shorter so ill use it just in case.
strictlyxjs
Set out to work today with the goal of getting the ax5 ready I was able to clock the trans using my boss's clocking ring set up. I test bolted a random np231 on and it fit perfectly. got this piece of unobtainium off the shelf Then the whole unit went in for a bath
