I'm looking to buy some 2X6 or 2X8 boxed steel and make rock sliders. By cutting out original rocker panels. I'd like to use them for air too.

Anyone on here do that?

Pictures?

I just finished my sliders with 2x6. Took 3/16 round stock and welded the slider to frame. Turned out nice! just need to order my monstaliner.

you couldn't pay me to cut away at solid rockers.  I went with more traditional tubes tucked up to the body but punched through the frame and welded to both sides.  nothing touches my rockers (which have since gone missing anyways since it's a michigan truck).  just throwing it out there. :)

It's 1.5"x4" C channel,it's actually structural pallet racking that i salvaged. It's 3/16" in the middle but the corners are much thicker.

NICE! do you have any finished pics with the support kickouts?

I still haven't gotten around to finshing the rails with the supports done as I haven't had the time though each time I take it out (which hasnt been as much as I'd like) I make it a point to hit , drag , pivot , and over all abuse the sliders just to see what they can handle and I'm quiet impressed ! No damage other than the scratches !

I'm not sure I dig the C-Chanel , seems that the point load of the C-Chanel is spread along the 3/16 edge and welded to some sheet metal ? And the bed section is separate from the cab with what looks like some angle iron or something to suport it. Yes I know mine still has no support to the slider beyond the cab but I bet a continuous piece of 2x6 is stronger than that ? Cutting out the rocker wouldn't be much more work and possibly could have saved some rust free rockers .
