TheDude
I was trolling Craigslist for Jeep parts like usual when I came across this gem, a 1996 Cherokee 2.5 5 speed 4wd and for $350 it's now mine. It came with a salvage certificate since this was an abandoned vehicle. but it runs strong! I can't wait to put it back together.
Megadan
That thing just screams off-road buggy project. Decent score for the price though. Have fun with that project.
TheDude
I think I'm going to fix it up and drive it around. All the parts it needs are very cheap and easy to install.
64 Cheyenne
Love the XJ platform, just picked up a parts 91 XJ 2dr 4.0 AX15, $150. Gonna junk it as we have two other 2dr XJs...AX15 and 231 goes into stock, saving all door and side glass for my other 2dr XJs,
rmoore1031
Nice! Can't drive stick myself with two right feet lol. One day I'll do the same with an XJ and MJ project vehicles. Thinking in a year or so. I do love how cheap these Jeeps can be found if you know where to look and hopefully know what to do.
Strokermjcomanche
I looked at that for a front 4.10 axle , that was from a towing yard right ? If you don't fix it is buy the front axle if it's 4.10 . Let me know if you need parts ...
Minuit
Ahh, stop making me want to buy a cheap XJ to use as a beater :fs1:
TheDude
I may daily drive it if I like it enough. At worst I sell it and buy something else like a 2.5 5 speed 2wd shortbed Comanche..
DirtyComanche
I can't stand driving the 2.5L... They make my JK seem fast. Is there any glass left in that thing?
TheDude
The 5 speed helps with drivability and I'm sure there are a few upgrades I can do too.
500 MJ
I'd bet it's last social event was an under age drunk party. Give it some love, looks like a good Jeep under all of the glass shards!

My '15 JKU runs pretty well for what it is Mine is a 3.8L rebadged minivan. Actually, the 2.5L 5spd base model XJ might give it a run for the money, if it was tuned up right with factory 28" tires. Let's just say I wouldn't put pinks on that race. :rotf:
TheDude
Towed it home today and drove it into the garage! All I did after that was pull the drain plug to let the oil drain out all night and attempt to charge the battery up.
