Took it for a drive with the load valve in the correct position.  My brakes are still marshmallowy, but My truck definitely stops far better.  Still can't lock em up, but close.

Final installment. Marshmallow GONE!  After bedding in the brakes and letting them cool off I decided to bleed the rears again trying Cruisers idea with the sensing valve tied up almost vertical. Got a big ol' air bubble out of it.  Holy brake force batman.  I love my truck again.  :D

Thanks guys for the ideas and insights. Definitely helped!

Stupid, stupid design

IMO it's a beautifully simple way of approaching a somewhat complex and very useful feature. I'll have to post up pics of the crazy setup on my Lada that accomplishes the same thing for comparison.

But why does the lever need to go down so far that it can be bolted up incorrectly (6 o'clock) and all but turn off the rear brakes? I have no issue with the design of it other than that. It having the ability to be installed with the lever at 6 o'clock at ride height is downright dangerous.

And while I'm at it... another downright dangerous MJ brake thing... the parking brake that pops out of position.

There was a recall on some of the parking brake pedal assemblies...

The lever/rod need to be able to travel all the way down to allow full droop. Yeah, unfortunately they do have a habit of over-centring.

Good luck on trying to get the recall done.

There was a guy trying a couple years back. Don't know what the result was... unfortunately there were people misbehaving and the thread got taken down. But he may have just given up.

I remember that!! Easier to fix the parkbrake ratchet yourself.

Yea, I already inquired about the parking brake recall.  That inevitably ended up being a waste of time, as I expected.  I got into contact with folks way up there at ChryCo only to have them tell me that they would gladly honor the recall if I could find a dealership that still had parts.  Basically, that's where it was apparent that they really had no intention to honor said recall.  I've since decided to swap over to an XJ hand-brake.  Also, I've since acquired two more MJ foot-brakes, so I'm good.

I was just thinking about hitting up my pick a part to grab an XJ hand brake mechanism.  I really dislike foot style ones to begin with, and I would rather use that space to make or install a dead pedal  for more comfortable driving.  The main thing I am wondering about is the cable to go between said handle style parking brake and the junction to the rear cables, and if the XJ unit would work. I might pick up the center console from said XJ as well, just because.
