Shop/Garage set up

Saw a thread like this over on cherokeeforum and I thought it was neat to see where people were wrenching on their rigs. so please feel free to share. I would love to see what yall got going on.

I'm currently restricted to a 2 car garage. I also own and run a small woodworking business I operate out of my house. So a lot of my woodworking tools take up room. Organization is key to make it all work in this small of a space. I have two AC units in the garage and do a great time of keeping it cool in the hot Texas summer and warm in the winters. I hope to be buying a piece of property soon and building a nice size metal building onit with in the next few years but it all depends how life pans out.

Mine was new to the house when I bought it. The house has another 2 car garage for the other cars. This is heated with attic above 2 car portion. Single side is tall enough for a lift.

Now that is a sweet set up! especially if you also have a 2 car garage on the house.

I've been working out of a smaller 2 car garage since I moved in here 8 or so years ago.

I have the box from when I was a dealer tech on the left, behind the compressor and torches. I picked up an old center post tire machine 5 years ago that is on the other side of the MJ, along with the Comanche Couch (Back 2 foot of an MJ with a bench seat nestled in against the wall). I run a blue tooth speaker when I'm wrenching. I have a shed for all the MJ parts, as well as had to install an attic ladder to hoard up top. Since this picture, I've added a HF blasting cabinet in front of the MJ, metric nut and bolt assortment on the left of the work bench, and a new cart.

I am working with a blank slate right now. It went up at the end of August. 30x40 with oversize garage doors :)

(the post on the left side of the photo goes straight up, the goofy appearance is due to my lack of photoshop skills)

I have built a 15' bench and a 60" rolling bench and am almost done running wire....lots and lots of heavy, difficult to work with wire. Once I get the wire run I'll move the '92 over from the two car garage that used to be my shop.

About a year old for the shop pictures, but it pretty much still looks the same... just more $#!& on the walls.

My pacifier of a shop is 14'x22'. I insulated and finished the walls about a year ago and its worked out well enough. Nothing at all like what I had at my last place, but it does the job. The problem comes in with space. Everything has its place and everything needs to stay organized in order for me to work out there. Cleanliness is another issue that I run into also being that it shares a wall with the rest of the house. During the winter months, the daily driver gets parked in the storage garage so it's not dripping off everything and making a mess. That means that the wife and I are using the shop as a hallway twice a day. The floor needs to stay swept and whatever is in the shop needs to stay fairly clean as well otherwise I get to hear about how she brushed up against something and got dirt smeared over the rest of the world.

The house originally had a single stall attached and then someone poorly added a second stall by just pouring a slab and put up some walls. That all came down a few years ago and was replaced with the storage garage. It's 24'x36' and it isn't big enough. I just got done moving everything into its winter parking spots today. Her car goes in the middle, my winter driver goes next to it, and that leaves enough space along the back wall to squeeze in three more vehicles. It's not all that terrible though. There's still plenty of walking space in between each vehicle.

... yes, those are both Comanches in the overhead picture.

We just moved to a new, larger house with a decent sized attached garage.  It's basically a blank canvas and still a mess from when we moved.  Started getting it organized today a little.  Will be keeping an eye on this thread for ideas.  Plan to eventually build a larger detached shop somewhere on the property.  I have plenty of space.

What is the contraption with the two ducts running out the window?

Those are Air Conditioners/ Heaters. They work pretty good to keep it comfortable. Except when Its 110 degrees outside..... the best they can get the garage down to is about 80. Which still feels pretty good when coming in from the heat outside.

Been trying to redo mine for several months now...I'm slow... :)

Not as pretty as ya'lls but it'll get there.  I have a regular two car garage, full of jeep junk and various engines, heads, you name it misc junk, there's even a willys under there somewhere.

I have a couple of Buick V6 engines I'm building to either sell or keep, and I've given away a lot of jeep junk, and will probably give away more,,,it actually used to be much worse.

Consider these the "Before" pictures.  But hey, the fridge works and there's beer inside of it.  haha!

The back yard is a Jeep junk yard also, theres an MJ,an XJ, about 12 axles, and 20 or so tires and wheels.

Just took down these old flimsy shelves today.

Picked up a HF 3 in 1 brake, roller, shear.  It'll work for the little stuff I do.  Just need a place to put it now.
