ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Rustys off road. They looked good new but did not hold up well on the trail. They do bend and flex some but as soon you lean on them a little more they crack. They have a fiberglass center.
platinum5.9 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I'm so jealous... I love that mj and have followed it from its start. Appreciate what you have. Notify me if you ever think about selling.
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 Modified the rear fenders a little. Cut the lip off. Looks a lot more clean.
86FUBAR Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 All I read was some one traded a LJ for an MJ and I new some one got hosed on this deal ! Â Then I looked at the pics and I will have to agree that it was a good trade ! Glade it's going to a good home and I'm looking forward to continued build of both rides.
MancheKid86 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 good to see your not scared to scratch the paint, use it well
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 I got it to use it that's for sure. I do still take care of my stuff though. Just waxed it and repainted some stuff today. Most of the scratches came out of the paint and the sliders and bumpers look as good as new.
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Finally got some new Pic's. Did a run in Big Bear. This is John Bull trail. Â Â Â
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Some from Dish pan springs, Gold mountain and near White mountain.
H3RESQ Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Glad to see its still out getting used, rear fenders look great. That thing gets a lot of attention on the trail huh?!, and just straight works well too. Just picked up a Crew Cab Tacoma today to start building. Hopefully we can meet up in Johnson Valley in a year! Cheers, Jason
platinum5.9 Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I'd love to see an update. Anything new?
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Sorry about that. I forgot about this site. My bad. I have been enjoying this truck all year long. I will add some pics soon. I did the Dusy Ershim trail last month. It was a blast. Transfer case started making noise part way through the trail. Once I was done with the trail it would not come out of 4 low. Took the case apart and a bearing went out in the tera 4:1 kit. What a P.O.S. I gave in and ordered a Atlas. Should be here in a week or so. I can't wait to install it and get my truck back on the trail.
Jackrabbit41 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I might have to copy the bed roll cage idea. I want a roof rack but would love to have some protection.
Cummins48 Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 If you ever decide to sell it I want it back. I dropped the ball and didn't buy it before the trade was made. :(
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Are you the one who did the engine build and 1999 xj swap? I just finished a Atlas transfer case install so I'm definantly not planing on selling it any time soon unless you want to offer me some unreasonably high amount of money lol.
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Got the Atlas in. It took a long time. I had some other things I had to get done (non Jeep related :( ) and then I had some problems with the install. It's a tight fit but it works now. Â
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Here is a few pics from the run I did to the Dusy.
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 And here is what happend last weekend. This was the first trip out after the new T-case. It broke before I even locked the front hubs in. I'm not sure why it broke. May have been a bad yoke? I hit a set of whoops and a few G outs when I first got to the desert and it was fine. Then I added some nitrogen to the shocks since one of my friends had a tank with him. I went to test them on a mid size set of whoops and it broke right away. The angles are good and it has plenty of slip in the saft so it did not bottom out. I already fixed it. Now I have to go try it again. Â
Doc. Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Nice rig. Like the cage, very similar to how I did mine. The "Comanche" on the doors, is that a vinyl sticker or.....?
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Thanks. Yeah it's a sticker.
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Been a while since I posted but I'm still having fun.
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Here is the take off. I think I could have hit it a lot faster. The landing was smooth. I don't have a flatbed trailer yet so I did not want to risk breaking something like a ball joint.
drcomanche Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I loved reading the build for this truck. Glad to see it back in action and it looks better than ever.
ryanatrocks@yahoo.com Posted June 12, 2016 Author Posted June 12, 2016 Sorry don't really have any updates. I just bought a house and started a new job so I have not had much time to play with the jeep lately. I do have a Moab trip coming up in October. I have some things I need to do to the Jeep before that. Pic's to follow.
