So.. I've been driving this thing as a semi- DD for a few months now... and my slave cylinder decides to take a dump!  I had a hell of a time getting it home without a clutch.  Crossing a mountain pass while shifting clutch-less is quite the adventure.    . :MJ 1: .

I purchased a Powertorque clutch kit from Oreiley's Auto, which included a new clutch set, alignment tool, and slave cylinder.  I also replaced the hose assembly and had the flywheel turned.  I must say, the replacement went smoother than I thought, and the truck drives a whole lot better,

Everything is great... except that my speedo no longer works.  I have a cable on order coming in.  Hopefully that takes care of that!

Did you make sure you had the gear housing in the same orientation as it came out? They have little notches to get it "timed" right.

I did not notice that! Thanks for the tip. I didn't remove the gear housing, just the cable. I'll disassemble it and see if that helps once I get the new cable in. My speedo shuddered a bit before, may as well swap the cable, I think.

Perfect build thread for me. I hope to be picking up a 1987 2.5 manual trans later this week and will be a regular visitor. Just finish a minor suspension upgrade on our 2010 JK, can't wait to start on the MJ.

Cool! Best advice I can give yoy is to take everything apart that you feel comfortable messing with and give it a good cleaning. These trucks are pretty simple and reliable, you just have to get caught up on the maintenance.

Picked up a set of Anzo H4 housings. Here they are equipped with the El-cheapo bulbs that they came with compared to a Sylvania Silverstar headlight on the passenger side.

Cool deal. :) I'll look them up. I dig it, but I feel hesitant to put it on my truck since I only have the one. I have a thing for symmetry. lol

They are designed for boats, actually work pretty well, some of the newer ones have adjustable grip arms so they would also be good off-road.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up! I too like that they fold up and out of the way. Makes for a sleeker look when stowed but you still have cup holders when you need them.

So I found this in a jy MJ:

Looks like mine I found in my MJ's glove box. I was shocked that it was still in there!

Haha mine still has the original also.

Nice. I wish mine was original. The PO of the manual I have wrote down THEIR VIN in it. Kind of a bummer, but I won't dwell on it. lol
