I was contacted today by cover king here in anaheim about expanding their jeep line to include our trucks.  I will be providing the seats from both of my trucks for pattern making.  I will keep everyone posted about it as we move forward.

Pete -- do you think we might make our logo available to them for embroidering on them

ok guys need input to provide them ---

Will be interesting but I'm wondering what seats you have. There are at least two different bench styles and two different bucket styles.

Really?  :hmm:

Weren't the Eliminator buckets different from the standard buckets? My '88 and '91 Eliminators had the same bucket style but my old '86 had buckets as well but didn't have the same design. It's been so long so I can't recall exactly, but pretty sure they didn't hug as well, maybe the seats in my Eliminators had bigger bolsters or something similar to the XJ seats.

There's at least two cloth buckets. Idk if mjs were ever offered with leathers but there's those too

There were never leathers in an MJ, vinyl and cloth/vinyl only. Same for bench seats, though covering material didn't play into the actual shape/design of the seats from what I've seen.

Yup, those tan ones are exactly what the blue ones in my old '86 looked like. And the bottoms are what both Eliminators looked like, minus the covers. Which appear to be exactly like the XJ ones in the rig I'm picking up Monday, just with solid headrests.

Reviving this thread.  jpdriver1 ... any updates on your endeavor into seat covers???

I've been in search of a replacement for the base of my XJ's driver seat.  I also want to convert my MJ from bench to buckets.  Picked up a pair of buckets from a CC member with plans to have them reupholstered.  Didn't think it would cost a kidney, but that was the quote.

Also, Anyone ever hear of/have experience with Wet Okole?  They advertise in Quadratec and picture pretty much every Jeep seat design I've ever seen.  I'm leary because I had to return (and pay the shipping) for a "custom fit" seat cover for the bench in my truck.  HUGE disappointment.

"Okole" is Hawaiian for "anus". The company catered to mostly surfers who needed a seat cover that would handle daily exposure to passengers dripping wet with salt water, so they chose neoprene wetsuit material for their construction.

Though I never bought any products by Wet Okole, my experience with wetsuits makes me think that seat covers made from that material wouldn't hold up to long use before delaminating - I'd guess a year or 2.

Not exactly the snug fit pictured in the Quadratec.  Still, they appear to fit better than the bench cover I wrote of earlier.

What's your take on'em hornbrod?  Are they worth the advertised $239?  What do they look/fit like after a year of use?

These are on a friend's MJ. The pic was taken immediately after he installed them. They look 100% better now and there are no more wrinkles as they have tightened and settled in. Unfortunately I have no current pics. He loves them.

Seatcovers will never fit like the original upholstery, but the Wet Okole covers come closer than any other cover I know of.

When I bought my MJ the bench seat was in rough shape. The cloth was all torn up, but the vinyl was still pretty good. I pulled the seat and back original covers off and brought them to a local upholstery shop. They replaced the fabric with rolled and pleated and reused the original vinyl. It came out pretty well and was inexpensive. Any good upholstery shop can duplicate the original covers or make them any way you want - they use the original covers as a pattern and it saves them time and money. Just another option.........

"Inexpensive" is relative.  Don't know what it cost to recover your bench (which came out really nice), but I was quoted over $700 to recover a pair of buckets to look stock ... Eliminator style buckets with the big, side bolsters.  I don't have that kind of $.

I have the wet okole on my MJbench seat and it fits great. They are a couple years old now and in perfect shape. I have postid pictures of them on here before but if you want more I can repost. I was more concerned with the material fading from the sun but they are holding their color very well.
