Possible Street Manche Spotted!

A friend of mine knows I'm a jeep fiend and a guy on a job site was also working there and pulled up with this

I asked him to check if it had the bronze plaque on the pass side dash but he left the jobsite already. It's an 87 4.0 5spd

Yup, that's a Street MJ or at least everything points to it being one (moldings, wheels, grille, bumpers) Need to find out what number that is since only 100 were made.

The mouldings and bumpers appear correct, as is the year. If you see him again get that plaque # and VIN for the Club.

That is sweet! It would be a show room queen if it was mine...and I'd be making fiberglass molds of all the trim and mouldings. So much want!

I don't think that's gonna be a Street Comanche.  They all had black interior with bucket seats.  This one has tan interior with a bench.  A previous owner probably just ordered the body kit from JC Whitney years ago.

Interesting.  Hadn't noticed the tan interior in #25.  All of them I've seen to this point have been red with black interior.  :dunno:

Well in the case of Street Comanches......... aren't they all just one year?  1989 if I'm not mistaken.

Nope, offered for several years and on top of different trims so I've heard. All SWB 2WD is about the only thing you can truly count on them being unless someone digs up some brochure on them or something to get us a list of standard options. Some had sunroofs and some didn't. I've seen pics of red, white, and black ones as the factory exterior colors. Interior I've only seen tan or black listed. Most had the grille like above, but I've seen the standard 10 and 8 slot as well.

I didnt know there was such a thing.... I do want! EXTREMELY limited production... This is the unicorn of the Comanche world.

I dunno about that....... Why would they limit the production to 100, but do it over the course of more than one production year?  I mean, prove me wrong by all means, but I'm only seeing these as being '87's on the registry website....

Dirteatr717 I know it's been a while.  I can't get on the site very often.  Just too many other things going on. 

But curious if you ever get the word on this one?  Sure looks like the real deal to me.  That grille is just like mine.  I'd love to know what number it was.

 Comanche fans do not do that to other Comanche owners.  There is a special place in hell for those folks.  I read on another forum that that circle of hell involves the offender to drive/push a Chinese knock-off while everyone else is driving a Jeep.

Never did find out if it had a plaque or not but I'm just going to assume it is a street comanche because it makes it that much more exciting to think that if I ever do come across it, ill chase after the guy driving to check it out haha
