johnnyc Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I was at Chip Foose's shop today and he sketched an MJ on a shirt for me. He did this sketch in about a minute.
64 Cheyenne Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Rob, I take that back...knowing the stuff you got, I bet you probably could....
Automan2164 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I've got nothing of that caliber. Johnny, attaboy for meeting one of the coolest car guys around, and chatting it up about MJ's. Rob
86customanche Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Very jealous you got to meet foose. Absolutely brilliant.
RockinMJ Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 so cool. I would love to have half the talent of that man.
HOrnbrod Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Way to go Johnny. I love what Chip did to his 56 Ford F100 shop truck. I've always wondered what he would do if turned loose and motivated on an MJ. That would be special.
johnnyc Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 When I told him I had a Jeep Comanche, he said, "Wow, you don't see many of those around" and went on to say how his buddy had a brand new one back in the 80s. And he was the coolest guy. There were some other visitors who were bothering him while he was working and asking him stupid questions, and having him sign multiple items. But he was always cordial and smiled throughout. I told him that I drove a truck for the Lowe's store in Irvine and that some co-workers had told me that they had seen him in the store. He said, "Yeah, I was just in there this morning" and told me where he lives.
johnnyc Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Don, here's one of his sketches that was hanging on the wall.
johnnyc Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Frame said shirt!!! I know. I don't think I can bring myself to actually wear it.
HKB3 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Some of you guys on the left coast should enter your MJ's for overhaulin, being on the right coast I know I don't have a chance.
johnnyc Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 My friend suggested that I do that. But, 1) I don't have a compelling story; 2) I'd be afraid to take it off-road with a nice paint job; 3) They get thousands of submissions; and 4) I just don't want to be on TV. :D
Rymanrph Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I love all the muscle cars they do on Overhaulin' as much as the next guy, but I like seeing them do something out of the box. The recent two-part episode where they took months to completely redesign a Lotus Europa was pretty incredible. There is no conceivable way they could have done half of that work on their old 7 day deadline.
