Incommando
of course the fact that it it is the same Fiat that they re-bodied to make the Dodge Dart ought to make you equally happy...
Zenobian_84
Hmm.... this should be interesting. I doubt it's going to make the same waves it did back in '84 though.

Incommando
Hmm.... this should be interesting. I doubt it's going to make the same waves it did back in '84 though. Actually the XJ was hated ( at least by Jeep fans) for the first few years of production. It was a very under-powered tall Volvo 240 wagon clone with white-wall tires. So it will probably make the exact same waves it did in the fall of '83...
Zenobian_84
Actually the XJ was hated ( at least by Jeep fans) for the first few years of production. Partially what I was referring to. I know it didn't become this magical, mystical powerhouse worthy of the "Jeep" moniker until the 4.0 debuted. Also, just read up on the links provided. We DO NOT NEED ANY MORE CROSSOVERS. SERIOUSLY. ENOUGH WITH THESE THINGS ALREADY. :wall:
Incommando
Unfortunately with CAFE increasing to ever ridiculous levels there will be fewer and fewer vehicles being manufactured that will then be suitable for most off-road enthusiasts' needs once those vehicles get a few miles/years on them. ComancheKid45
:shake: I have nothing to say to this. I do agree through, Crossovers need to have their own place, and its not in the 4x4 world!
86customanche
Never been a fan of crossovers, but I do get why they are made. And the 4x4 world is not included in that. They are for the soccer moms who want something that can handle a little snow on the roads. The all-wheel drive crap isnt made for off the pavement. xjrev10
Vehicles like this are whats gonna KILL the Jeep brand..
Minuit
As much as I hate to say it, I agree. The Jeep brand is ever so (or not?) slowly becoming just another car and this new Cherokee sure isn't helping. I think it's pretty sad to look at the current lineup. The Wrangler is sort of Jeep's last hope and it's about to get overhauled. P.S. what's this warning points thing under my name?
HKB3
I was reading somewhere the the new wrangler will no longer have a fold down windshield... the Jeep brand has been on a slippery downward slope for a while now.

Minuit
:agree: Saw my first one the other day and it took quite the effort to contain both my laughter and lunch. So long, Jeep. :MJ 2:

Incommando
I lost hope for the Jeep brand when this rolled out of the factories: What...A re-bodied Dodge Caliber isn't your idea of a trail rig? That is exactly what the Compass/Patriot twins are... A few years ago an old neighbor of mine was bashing the Compass and bragging on his newly purchased Patriot.... :rotf:
