Pete M Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 do NOT show that to my sis. I keep having to reassure her that the Jeep will be stuck in low speed when I introduce it to my nephew in 2 months. Â Â Â (but you know that's coming next year... :brows: )
xjrev10 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 24V Conversion. Rob  24v Cummins might be a bit much!        Hahahahahahahahaha (no smileys in Tapatalk)
Dadinator Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Pete, Â Awesome. I just scored a nearly new condition barbie PW Jeep for my grand daughter. She turns 2 Sunday. Â How did your nephew love it?
Pete M Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 he hasn't seen it yet. :( didn't get enough time to finish it. I'm going back down to GA for christmas and he'll get it then.
Pete M Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 I don't seem to have much in the way of photos, but here you can see the mirrors and the door. the doors came from another powerwheels jeep I picked up complete for 10 bucks (stripped it for spare parts). the doors don't quite go right in, but aren't too hard to mod. I also bought the sound box from a powerwheels harley motorcycle and fitted it behind the dash with the buttons exposed. I swear I have a pic of that somewhere... Â
Pete M Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 found it  yes, I know I could have done the button hole better.
Pete M Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 the new battery arrived today!! Â sneak peak of the new rollbar I'm making. :D I think it looks much more "jeep" than that silly PW bar. Â
88whitemanche Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I did one similar for my nephew I did similar to grave diggers design because he lives monster trucks and grave digger  From this  To Â
Dadinator Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Dude, you're examining these pics way too closely.
Pete M Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 thanks jim. :D Â Â nice 'digger" paint job!
88whitemanche Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Thanks pete took me about a week but loving the ideas you've gotten by far
Pete M Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 installed the battery today. everything is pretty much done except for the steering wheel. tomorrow we'll see what my nephew thinks of it. :D update photos will be posted tomorrow (ran out of sunlight tday). Â Â oh and it turns out the voltmeter doesn't work. :fs1:
Pete M Posted January 22, 2013 Author Posted January 22, 2013 it was a fun project. :D Â Â Â Â added some Jeep emblems to the backside. (and a cap for the spare tire :D ) Â Â Â yes, that hood emblem was what you thought it was. :D the headlights/taillights are not yet functional. I'll get to that later. but the LEDs are installed inside. Â Â bought an aftermarket battery and installed it under the seat instead of in the engine bay. now the engine bay can be a trunk of sorts. I also added a trickle charger so we can just plug it in at the end of the day and it'll always be topped off. Â
Pete M Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 he likes it :D was there any doubt? just wait til he finds out he can power it along with his foot! I disconnected the power from the wheels to see how he handles the concept of "steering" (he needs some more practice. ) but we have a slight downhill in the backyard and he went down that repeatedly until he snapped the cross-shaft in the steering column. yup, that's right. in typical jeeper fashion he broke something his first time out. . :MJ 1: . but I've gotta hit the road back to Michigan, so it'll fall on his grandpa's shoulders to fix it. Â Â Â Â
jpnjim Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Awesome! When do you start building the trailer for it?
Pete M Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I saw a guy that made a winch out of a spare wheel motor. it was sweet! not sure how powerful it is though. but I have a good start: solid extraction points. :D you can hang the whole jeep from any of the clevises. Â trailer construction starts on my next trip down.
Blue88Comanche Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Walmart has a small 500-1000 lb winch for about 50 dollars. I could not imagine what they would have been good for due to the size of the winch (would look like a proper winch on the mini jeep)
Pete M Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 weight is a concern. keep in mind that it's a plastic jeep. :(
