Blue88Comanche
i would try lower. i bought dads for 1500, and my Red Comanche shell for 300.. and my blue one was Free :D however it is starting to cost me more and more.... :shake: post some pics if it runs well, drives well, and no odd sounds coming from the engine tranny or axles, and has little or no rust. i would say go for it. Pete M
need more details. with these old trucks, mileage doesn't matter anywhere near as much as how well it was treated during those miles.

Jeep Driver
There are some good deals out there.........much better than $2500 but condition is everything. I paid $2500 for mine with rebuilt engine and no rust or body damage.

ParadiseMJ
Is it a 4x4 or 2x4? What is the tranny? 5 spd. or automatic. BA-10 bad. AW4 good. Gear ratios? 3.07? $2500 is a bit steep, but it's clean looking. I got mine for $400, but I have 2K into it The front header panel looks newer...was it in a wreck? or just modified? Does the camper come with it??

Jeep Driver
It's a 97+ XJ front end.
apexjeepinjoe
I think you could do a little better on the price. I just picked up my 88 4x4 4.0 and ba10 for $700.00. Turns out the transmission is trash, but the body is straight and rust free also the interior is perfect, runs great has new tires and new exhaust. 00xj54
I also think $2500 is too high. I'm gonna see if I can get for $2000 even. Also keep in mind I'm in California. Cars are worth a lot more here (for some reason).

00xj54
Okay I saw it. It WAS in accident which explains the header. He is mechanic so he fixed it up him self. He put in a new radiator. There seemed to be some minor alignment issues. He said that was due to the oversize tires. It's on 31s. The paint job was just awful. However, there was no rust anywhere. There was no cat. but I'm okay with that because he HAS to put one on and it HAS to pass CA Smog. There was also some disconnected wires under the hood. One big concern was with what I hope I was just the valve cover gasket. There was pool of oil completely around the valve cover. Also, the oil pressure gauge doesn't work. Other than that, the engine sounded and felt great. The trans went into every gear. I offered him $2000. He said that would work. He's going to put in a cat and smog it. He's got other people that wanted to look at it. I hope someone doesn't offer him more.

00xj54
I saw that one too. I'm not to keen on a rebuilt engine. I still have bitter taste in my mouth from my XJ. I killed one of those 0331 4.0s. Got a rebuilt engine. I saw that MJ also. (Actually I was amazed that there was two MJs for sale). I e-mailed him and he didn't get back to me. Pete M
sounds less and less like a 2 grand truck and more like a 1 grand truck. I'd change my offer.
86customanche
:agree: I'm not familiar with the markup that CA cars have but I wouldnt pay 2k for that. With what you say is a crappy paint job and loose wires, not to mention only 2wd, that seems like a lot of work to make it nice. And being in a wreck, you don't know how bad of a wreck it was and what may or may not have been replaced. I guess it depends on what you are looking for the truck to be able to do and how much you are looking to do yourself on the truck. Id say 1500 IMO max
ParadiseMJ
Well, sorry bro. I'd pass on it altogether. Here's why. Accident - wreck, whatever. Along with that it's admittedly got an alignment issue. I have 31's on both Jeeps, poor alignment is not caused by putting 31" tires on it. Paint job - since it's a California Jeep I'd doubt he's covering anything more than surface rust, but unless you are happy with the paint, you'll want to paint it, and that will cost $$. He's a mechanic - That's not necessarily a good thing. He could snow you on lots of things...and charge you for it. BA-10 - I've had mine for 2 years...it runs fine but the tranny is definitely the weak point. I'm polishing up my spare AW4 as we speak for a swap in the near future. 2 wheel drive - It may sound like an easy thing to do but if you plan to use this off-road you're going to want 4x. Converting it is not as easy as it sounds. It'll cost $$ and time. Like I said I have 2K into mine, minimum, and still more to come. Not to make it an off-road beast...just to make it a bit better than stock with some extra stuff. The girlfriend analogy is perfect...don';t marry the first one that drops her top for you.
