Dezert Comanche

Recommended Posts

That sucks  main thing is you're okay. As for the truck like you said rebuild it, door fender and axle and it's pretty much good to go :wrench:

Keep the positive attitude and anything can be done.

5.5 of lift! need a new adjustable track bar! so I went with the TNT customs track bar system http://www.tntcustoms.com/trackbarsystemmjxjzj.aspx

& i plan to go fast in the dezert. with that said i want parts that will last & that will not break and leave me stranded in the dezert. I drive my jeep there & back.

so i went with the JCR 1 ton steering http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1TNST&Category_Code=S6

Got my rockrawler kit on the truck. After i cut off the stock lower control arm brackets & put the new Rockrawler brackets on the frame rails, i could not drill the front hole on the brackets there is a peace of metal in the frame that catches the brill bite, so i had a friend weld them to the frame rails. :D

..just out of curiosity...

with all the time and money going into a big long arm lift and everything else, why still 2wd?

2wd front sleeved with .250 wall chromoly

No problems!

Some jeepspeeds like this one (FatCity Off-Road Racing 1790) run 2wd. when you have that much speed in the dezert you do not need to be in 4x4. they depend on the rear locker & gears.

got some pics of my rear end on the way!

& ya i have a lots more time, money & :wrench: to do before i can get that much air!

are your rear fenders pulled out or did u buy bedside fiberglass fender? also have u been pulled over here in cali for your tires or fenders being cut and sticking out

they are the stock bedsides W/ the wheel wells cut out then i pulled them out & made some simple tie in to the frame & extended the fuel fill tube. W/33'' 12.50s & 5.5'' of lift I have not got pulled over yet!. Butt two of my friends W/ Cherokees have. they say it is cowman to get fix it tickets from CHP for mud flaps.

A friends fix he used 1 screw! :wrench: just had it on his jeep long enough to get his fix it ticket sighed off.

Nice build. I'm headed in the same direction, not nearly as much progress though, but many of the same ideas. My MJ was also my first Jeep and my DD. Being a 2wd as well, I had planned to convert to 4wd, then along came desert racing and prerunner's and I knew what I must do :D .

how did u separate the fender i was thinking about pulling mine out but not till i get glass in the front

i made two cuts, w/ 4 1/2 angel grinder, one on the in side of the fender well as far in as i could with out cutting in to the in side metal. the other cut was on the out side of the bed side. i traced the top line of the stock fender flair. you can see from my pics.
