I like that idea glad your making it. don't them tires wine on the open road tho? lol Brandon

Not too bad, but yeah, they are a little loud,,,but they're such a great improvement over my Creepy Crawlers that I'm happy with them.

Yum copenhagen! Ya that's a 2 can trip easy , looks like it was a fun one . The longest trip iv ever done in the manch was a 300 mile round trip.

I think I'm on Can 3 now.....haha.

truck looks great! and my sis just moved from meridian. I never got to visit but from what i heard there wasn't too much going on

Thanks man, I love the south, although you can tell just by driving through that some of the towns down here have been hit pretty hard in the wallet over the last few years. Meridian seems like one of them. I like Birmingham, AL,,,,,if I could live anywhere in AL or the Deep SE, it think it would be there - second to Savannah of course. That is if I couldn't afford a place on Mobile Bay, Destin, or anywhere on the FL west coast......FL east coast - forget about it,,,,way too poor to live there.

It was a good trip overall,,,,

Gas - somewhere around 200 bucks

Hotel rooms - $0 slept in the cramped MJ cab and it was 18 freakin degrees outside in a Birmingham Walmart parking lot.

Alternator - $106 bucks

Multiple bags of Funions - around 5 bucks

Making it across the country with presents in hand for my daughters 10th birthday - PRICELESS!

I love road trips in my Comanche, I drove from Ohio the outer banks straight through once and I've driven it up to Newport Maine. never had a single proble

, but when I did get back from Maine the next day a joint in my drive shaft took a crap lol luckily it didn't happen on the way back becaue I took back roads all the way home from Maine.

We need to make an "Official MJs across America" thread with pics of MJs in iconic locations around the country. Needs to have pics like an MJ at the Statue of Liberty, on top of Pike's Peak...

I can make that trip next summer, but it's not a "challenging" feat when a miata can make it up to the top :rotf:

I drive my 89 Comanche,2WD,2.5, 5 speed. Between my job and a paper route I put over 500 miles a week on her.(26,000 miles per year) Only one time did it leave me setting on the side of the road. This last Saturday the alternator went out. Got new one on yesterday.

My daughter has an early red miata black top also! She has had it for close to 15 years and just put a new top on it. Drive only during non winter weather. She named it "spike"!

87 2.5 4x2 DD from Sep-May (LeSabre has no working heat). Usual drive is 40 mile round trip, five days a week. Longest single drive in one day was from home to Salem and back- 270 miles, most of it twisty and steep (for a highway) mountain driving til I hit the valley... its bad when I'm being passed by a 15 year old Kia on an uphill on Santiam pass. Taking off the KC light bar adds 5mpg and lowers wind resistance quite a bit.

I have never driven it out of state since I purchased it in 07... never had a need to.

Drove mine down to Texas this summer from Denver. Had to park it once I got here though, too hot and no AC (did not buy it with AC cause I lived up north) Now that it has cooled down though, the brake master cyclinder gave up after 23 years so I havent pulled it out of the garage since the move.

Moab would be a neat destination, but only a few rigs are set up for that.

phooey on that. bone stock Jeeps can have a blast at Moab. ya just have to be more careful about which trails you choose.

I think disaster has struck. :( After finally getting my door open and departing GA back to TX, I think I may have spun a bearing in Vicksburg. I was going to leave the MJ in GA but plans changed, plus the clutch went out in Dad's F250 again and I'd have needed all my tools which are in the back of he MJ.

Wish this would have happened in Birmingham, I'd be slappin in a stroker in the Hesco parking lot tomorrow morning. jamminz.gif

It's still drivable and has plenty of power, I'm not sure if it'll make the 500 miles left to go to get home. I'm hoping I could make it to either Jackson or Monroe, LA if needed. If anyone wants to come on an MJ rescue mission I'll provide the beer, but bring an engine hoist. At least there's casinos here, might win enough to pay for this one. If I don't find an engine nearby I'll procure a tow rig and get her home.
