jpnjim
I'm curious how tough this will be to get: Here's your first few hints, it is a rear axle (duh) made by Dana from a US production vehicle yep, those are drum brakes and the center section is aluminum. any guesses? :waving:

MrFreeze5
There was a Jaguar disc brake dana 44 setup like this on CL within the last week around here. I have no use for it, but I wanted it anyway :D thats definately not a HMMWV axle though.

Next hint, the axle IS olive drab, but it's NOT from a MUTT (M151 or M151 variants)

Sir Sam
There was a guy here who had a couple of parts mighty mites, enough to combine and make one, wanted to do the project, seemed like a neat restoration to do.

jpnjim
I'd just like to check out the 1950's air cooled v4 engine. If it wasn't sacrilege, I'd like one of the LWB versions with a Hayabusa engine, and Toy axles.
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW
We had 3 of them when I was young. Ours were all a red(ish) color. Dad sold them off to buy a warbird... :fs1: I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics of them.

Broncowilly
Thank you very much guys. What brought me here was the photos of the rear end on Google image. I just bought a rolling chassis that had a new rear end. Fortunately it came with a good one because the rear end in mine has been making a howl for ten years. I'll be making a trailer out of the back end of the roller I bought. I'll keep you all posted.

That axle image was from Ebay last June, don't know if the guy re-re-re-listed it again, or not, but it looks like you got it covered now. I'm surprised that the rear was howling tho, watching the video, the whole vehicle seemed so quiet (I wanted to hear the little V4 ) BTW, do you like it, hate it, or don't care either way when someone calls it a Jeep? (I don't think I'd mind, since they are step brothers, by marriage :D )
Broncowilly
Thanks all! :jump: I used to correct people when they called it a jeep but not anymore. I'll video the engine and post it to my photobucket site. The rear end only howled at speeds over 15 or 20 mph. I pulled the cover and found the ring gear pitted and a rotten wear pattern. Broncowilly
Fellas, here is a link to the video of the engine running. It is very quiet so turn up the sound. It sounds much like a VW. It is completely waterproof.
