dasbulliwagen
I finally got around to installing my Scarfab hitch. Thank you Brandon Scarbrough for this extremely well made hitch. It fit perfectly. But I do have a few issues that have nothing to do with the hitch. First off, my truck was originally rear bumper delete. And evidently this means that they don't tap the holes for the bumper with threads. I started trying to tap the first hole, and was having issues keeping it straight doing it in the tight confines under the bed. Long story short, I broke the tap off in the hole. That stopped my work on it Saturday after work. So off to Lowe's to buy a new tap... I got two just in case. So today after work I started again. The new tap has a larger square drive on its end that ended up fitting perfectly into a 9mm socket, that I then put on an air wratchet. The remaining holes were done in 2-3 minutes with that setup. And the hitch installed no problem. I'll have to deal with the broken tap later though. My next issue has to do with the XJ Cherokee rear bumper I installed years ago. I have interference issues with the hitch and the bottom of the bumper. It looks like I should be able to just cut a couple notches in the bumper and be good, maybe add some spacers to the bumper mount. I'll figure it out, but it's just taking a little longer than I thought. Again at no fault of the hitch. Here are some pictures. The first one is hard to see, but it shows the smooth bore untapped holes.
dasbulliwagen
And back on with the rear bumper after I cut a couple notches so it would sit flush with the hitch.
dasbulliwagen
I have the front bumper off now to install a front hitch I got for Xmas 2 years ago. And this last Xmas I got a Smittybuilt front bumper light bar..... Made for a Smittybuilt bumper. While the stock bumper is off I'm going to modify and install the light bar before putting it all back together. I'll have pics next week. Then when it's all together I can install the Hella lights I got 3 years ago!

dasbulliwagen
More pics of progress on the bumper and light bar. I need to drill a few more holes and then I'll be ready to weld it together. The last pic shows the grey support bars I'll be welding on to keep it from flopping. Then I'm contemplating painting it RED!

I did a test piece with red paint over the bedliner and the paint didn't seem like it wanted to fully cure, so it was scratched. Anyways here's the finished product. Next step is lights! dasbulliwagen
The lights and light bar are holding up great. The Rust-Oleum bed liner spray on the bar is still looking good. I haven't done much with it in a while, but here a recent pic

dasbulliwagen
Time for an update. I pulled the bench seat out of it to send it to get recovered. My friends dad is now working with an upholstery guy, so I'm going to get him to recover it. Ill be going with new black vinyl, with red stitching and maybe a diamond pattern stitched inset. While the carpet is out, Ill be laying down some generic dynomat, New carpeting to replace the torn up rubber floor, and installing the cable front axle disconnect. Ill load pics of the seat out later for some before pics, and more pics once I dig farther into it.
dasbulliwagen
The bench has been sent out to get done, and the old rubber floor has been pulled out. You guys are right about these rusting from the inside out. The only rust on the whole truck is on the interior floors! I bought stuff to get them cleaned up and coated, and then ready to lay down some sound deadening material. I'll have more pics as progress happens. dasbulliwagen
I got the floors wire wheeled, then coated with a rust converter. Then seam sealed a few pinholes, and put a topcoat of Rust-Oleum enamel to seal it up. Next will be sound deadening, before the carpet gets put in. dasbulliwagen
It's been a slow day at work. I got the sound deadening in. Did the floors and the back of the cab. I still have enough left of a 36 SQ ft box to do the roof if I ever feel like it, or the inside of the doors.
