BrettM
My MJ is missing the interior lights at the top of the B-pillar, has anyone found a better replacement? LEDs maybe? any other cool things to do with that spot?
Pete M
The stock lights are not only French pieces of crap that use funky bulbs and put out pathetic amounts of light even when new, they are mounted in an awful location. I bought a generic household "tap light" that's battery operated and has a halogen light in it and mounted it in the center of the roof. Very bright! I can actually read maps and such. :D
lostissues
i have been thinking about puttin 12 volt led's in as replacement for the crappy cab lights, i was thinking about intergrating them into the fix up of my headliner.
mjeff87
I pulled a set of rear courtesy lights out of a Lincoln Mark IV (or wahtever) awhile back but haven't got them mounted yet  There in the big pile o' parts, on the to-do list someday. They're rectangular, and are almost the same size as the cutout in the pillar. They have a pushbutton, and a clothes hook too :D I'll dig 'em out and post a pic tomorrow. mjeff87
couple pics of them, front and back, and one I stuffed it in the pillar (not connected). I'll have to trim out the hole in the plastic a tad so they sit flush. Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
feerocknok
Like this: ? That looks snazzy. Have you wired em straight to the battery to see how bright they are?
mjeff87
No, now that I think about it some more....it was a Park Avenue, later model. I haven't hooked them to power yet, but anything has got to be better than those stock rocker lights :headpop:

attaboybob
I reupholstered my headliner and installed this marine light I bought on E-bay. It has a bright white light. you can see everything in your MJ. It also has a red light, which lets you see in the cab at night and not get a reflection on the windshield, allowing you to still see clearly. I bought it about a year ago. I actually bought two and put one in my XJ. well worth the money. I couldn't be more pleased. if for some reason the link don't work. go to "boaterbits" store on e-bay ...BOB http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STAINLES ... GirsMJ86
yea sorry. my 91 has the two on the pillars behind the seats that all MJs have. but it also has one on each side down by your feet. i think they were spliced in but they work just like the domes and really brighten up the cab which those stupid domes alone can't do. mjeff87
My MJ didn't have those kickpanel lights, but the wiring was there for 'em. I swapped in a set from an XJ, and they make a WORLD of difference. Even more so for me, because I have a solid black interior.

Check NAPA, and if they don't have 'em go to a semi trailer shop. If my memory still works, each light is less than $2, and the mount has the wiring built in (mount may not be included). Alex Mine didn't have them either, BUT they where wired from the factory. I added some form an XJ and they plugged right in and worked fine!!! NICE ADDITION!!!
