Comanche County
OK, I picked up my 89 Pioneer in Littleton, CO back in June with 188K, Its now about 8 inches higher with a bunch of stuff on it,,,,I'll get around to posting my JY/CL supplied build later (I've got dial up, you understand don't you,,,,they should pay me for frickin dial up). I've got an extra 89 4.0L that I'll get around to turning into a stroker,,,,just can't find a 258 anywhere. Until then I'll just run it until it doesn't want to play anymore, I've currently got 193K on it, it runs great, oil pressure is a little low about 23-35 lbs on the highway depending on engine temp, 18-20 at idle. Rear main is leaking like a drunk drooling at the bar, and the head gasket is leaking a little on the pass side. I'm going to put in a new rear main and oil pan gasket, probable a HV pump while I'm there and re-torque the head..... I'm now starting to think I should take my time on the stroker build and shoot for 250-300K on the original renix 4.0L. How many miles does your MJ have?????? JeepcoMJ
my 86 has 79k miles on it, it's gonna be on it's 4th motor (two 2.8 liters before I owned it, one buick 3800 now rebuilding), 5th transmission, 3rd front axle, and it's on it's 5th rear axle. my front axle is bent...was that way when cionverted to 4wd but it's getting worse the engine sucked something into the oil pump which got on a main bearing and wrecked the crank the 3800 eats dana 35's for breakfast and is now on a dana 44 the ax5's last between 700 and 2000 miles behind the 3800, so it's time for an ax15 my 87 MJ had 160 or 170k on it when I got it, the motor didn't last 2000 miles. it was 2wd so it's now 4wd on it's second front axle had a dana 44 which is now in the other truck, but now has a 44 with 4.10 gears to match the front 1st t-case in it (SYE np231) second trans (soon to be 3rd) aw4 to convert from 2wd to 4wd second motor mildly built powerhouse 1995 H.O. and wiring. I've put 4000 miles on that truck so far. other vehicles have lasted longer, but they were all fixer-uppers that I got cheap fixed then sold to support my habit. WahooSteeler
Like my signature says, 213K and counting! I am only the second owner of this truck. Bought it in Sept. '07 with 210k and, knock on wood, have had no real issues with it motor wise, or much else. It still pulls strong, but mileage is not that great. Then again, I haven't changed any of the sensors, cleaned the throttle body or anything. Changed the oil when I got it and that's about it. I DO plan to do all the other "tune-up" items this summer. 87Warrior
Mine has 186K on it, factory drivetrain. A friend of mine was given an XJ from his neighbor. It was an 89 with the Renix, all factory drivetrain. That thing had 289K on it and would still break a tire loose on pavement and shifted strong. I was impressed. dasbulliwagen
As shown in my sig, my 8 has 341,000. I bought it from the original owner who put 336,000 on it. He said he put a Jasper engine and trans in it at 140,000. So I guess my Jasper engine and AX4 has 200,000 plus. Good little truck!
oldrusty
My 88 Pioneer with a 4.0 5 spd has 209,000 on the original engine. brdhntr
i picked up my 87 in june with 93k miles on it. it is a 2.5 and now has 95k. it is totally stock. everything is stock/original. i mean original. original: plugs wires cap rotor brakes etc. the only thing that has been done (and i have the records) is a set of cruddy car tires (white wall) in 08/96, regular oil changes every 2000 miles, a flush n fill of the cooling system, a new belt, a new stereo system, and a crappy trailer wireing hook up. :huh???: i have now put a new alternator in and belt. i checked the brakes but they are actually pretty good. i plan a ton of stuff when the weather warms up. new brakes, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, tranny filter and fluid, coolant flush, tires, k&n air filter, and a few other things. for 96k miles and not having much of anything done, it is really in good shape. the guy i got it from had a philosophy that you only fix it if it breaks, otherwise change the oil every 2k and it'll run forever. we'll see. :dunno:

summerinmaine
Mine has 298K on the odo. Stock everything AFAIK (I've only owned it for two years, so no clue as to any rebuild history). Oil pressure is a bit low, but compression is 155 +/- 5# across the board.
Car RamRod
The body of my 86 has in the 70s. The donor truck I got (87) had 273k. The trans was recently rebuilt and I got a reman 4.0 before it went into my 86.
Pete M
All 3 of my MJ that have drivetrains exceed 200k. As far as I can tell they are all the original blocks with no internal work done.
