garmj Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 My dad wasnt a car guy and I didnt have a mentor till I was 30 (i worked on cars since I was 17). I met a neighbor who was associated with AMC in the racing division who could build anything. He was 25 years older than me. He taught me countless things about cars, fabrication ,racing and life in general. He passed away last Halloween and I really miss him,and I credit my knoledge to his guidance. You can learn a lot in 24 years.here's to you my friend. Godspeed Ed Donnell
Bevan Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 I've decided to resurrect & continue this thread: So in September of 2013 my XJ was completed:
Bevan Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 Now my old mans MJ had since deteriorated and was in need of some serious repair, maintenance...you name it, it needed it. He overheated it and blew the head gasket. In the summer of 2014: We swapped the head gasket and the truck ran great, winter of 2015 pops called and said the truck was leaking coolant, it was, from the 10" crack in the water jacket. He agreed he could no longer take care of the truck and it became mine. April16th My buddy Chris, pops and I started the resurrection of the Manche:
Bevan Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 So I decided to get my compulsive hoarding under control and sell my XJ, Ford Ranger, BMW 3 series & Triumph chopper. I would keep the M3, Norton Motorcycle & DD the MJ. So time to build a very capable MJ. Cue the A-Team music! Sourced the Bumper and winch from the XJ: Sourced a non disco front axle and some V8 ZJ up country coils & spacers: Also found some Moab's courtesy of a hippie on CL:
buxmj Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Great pics and back stories. Welcome back? to the madness, err, you never left the madness, welcome back to cc! Buck.
