before i painted mine black i insulated tha cab way better then they were ever meant to be. i used heat sheilding and denim insulation and that foam window insulation. but it wasnt that yellow kind that gets all over the place, this stuff was white, thicker, and didnt expand as much. and lets just say that even though it is flat black now, my cab stays nice and cool for the most part. it not like my 86 C10 that is also black but no cab insulation. heck my gfs silver cav gets hotter then my mjs.

all urethane formulations cure in a hygroscopic manner, same this with gorilla glue. If you want to speed up the cure on that then you lightly mist one side of the mating parts before sticking them together.

The "white" foam mentioned previously is not likely a urethane foam, which is why it's a better choice. That's also why it doesn't expand as much.

Who needs AC on a trail rig anyways driving :nanner:

I do! Too bad I ain't got it. My interior blower doesn't even work at this minute. I have a cheap clip-on 12volt fan that I picked up at the auto store that I hang from the back window and point at me. You can sort of see it in this pic:

I wished we had AC in the 95* NC heat for two days. In cab temp was probably 110.

You're not missing much with the interior blower, on my rig it was just sucking in hot air, it was better with it off. I may pick up a 12V fan like that, it may be the best solution.

Just a thought on your fan though, mine was the connector on the right of the HVAC controls, just worn out, prongs not making contact. I cut the connector off and put regular spade connectors on it, works like a champ.

on the subject of the thermal fuse being worn out under the pass side dash i found a site that has them in stock that you can order. just for those of you that don't want to risk a short or fire more then some of our wireing is prone to. here's the site for em:

the ones out of the mjs are 128*C but you have to get a 130*C one, part number 447-XYP2BN124.

and moisture does not affect my 86. can we say por-15 where i could get it. :D

Slickrick, just my 2-cents, try looking into hot rod black primer, it looks the best of all primers, plus if you decide to paint it l8r you'll have less prep work. looks trick and easy to respray. Just an idea.

Yeah when I bought mine the ac worked fine, now I think I have a leak and the compressor isn't kicking on, I think its the pressure switch!
