Well, I picked up another one! 91 4.0, picked it for cheap because previous owner couldnt get it to run, the pick-up screen on the fuel pump was clogged! :rotf: Paint is faded but not a lick of rust anywhere! Not sure what I am going to do with it, definitely 4wd conversion for sure...

I broke my ankle the other week and my hours were cut at the begining of the year, so that ate all my vacation time really. But, went to the new Katemcy Memorial Day weekend, Hidden Falls (sucked), and thats it so far. Going to try and hit Hot Springs, a few new local places I havent been, Trees in September, and then Moab with NAXJA in October one way or another! :D

Just brought my project Comanche home, Noob for sure, have tons of questions...

88' Jeep Comanche, 8" long arm, on 35" BFG KM2's

bilstein shocks front and rear, Steele Braided brake lines

upgraded Aluminum radiator with 3 electric fans

k&n intake, flow master exhaust, Tom Woods driveline

Slip yoke eliminator, Pugeot Tranny, Cherokee Console

stock front and rear axles, gettin yanked soon though

open difs, and stock gears, kinda sluggish at the moment, just don't want to dump any money into these axles so will wait and gear and locker the next set, prolly d60 rear and d44 front, or d60 front and rear

i swapped the mirrors from a newer Cherokee, looks and function for 14$ at the pullapart, gauge cluter also from newer Cherokee all gauges work so far.

well here she is any advice is welcome

oh yeah i also cleaned all the black trim and painted the tail lights gave her that bling factor.

LOvin her so far instant Comanche fan

so. I'm brand new to jeeps. at least ownership. i wheel around the pittsburgh pa area. i had a 99 for f150 before the comanche I'm picking up soon, so i decided i needed another truck, yet something that could be wheeled in the very tight trails of pa and east ohio. so ive found a manche, one that was someone else's project then it was sold off to someone who has had it in their garage for a while. it started out as an 86 2wd. a donor 99 xj helped a bunch of parts get swapped in, such as: 99 front clip, 4.0, np 231, aw4, chrysler 8.25 out back, new dash, doors. i think thats most of it. its been SOA'd out back and i believe up front or something fun up front. also, fabricated long arms similar to the clayton's you might find out there. all with spherical rod ends and what not. its really ugly right now on the outside, but the potential is great. it should have around 6"+ of lift, and I plan on running 33" ltb's. oh and for fun, the 4.0 motor is painted Caterpillar yellow. once i go see the jeep later this week, ill update with some pics. just wanted to introduce myself, and say ill be around soon. thanks yall

1986 Jeep Comanche Custom. 2.5L 4 Cyl. 4X4, 7 ft. bed, with the A904 chrysler 3 speed automatic tranny. (Don't let that snow over the rear wheel wells fool you...those things have more holes than a block of swiss cheese.)

This is the only pic I could find. I'm going to have to take some more. She is often called the bee because it's yellow, white, and black. She's an awful rusty rig. My first vehicle, and I absolutely love her...of course other people think I love her too much...they don't understand a jeep owners' love for their vehicles I guess lol. One day I hope to have this baby lookin sharper than the day she came off the line. I am lucky, (if that's what you want to call it) :rotf: to know the vehicle's history and the previous owners history.

When the truck was SOLD for the first time O'Reilly's had it as a company parts truck. The idiot :dunce: "the trucks driver" did all sorts of dumb stuff to it. Ripped the door mirrors off and put huge mirrors in that bolted to the middle of the door leaving holes after he removed them. Put tie downs along each side of the bed and didn't even level them so they are all cockeyed.

My mom's first husband (I adopted him as my dad) kept hounding the guy because he wanted the truck. Finally he got it for around 500 dollars I believe. Like I said previously the first driver took the big mirrors back off, so it had no mirrors what-so-ever. :rotf: After buying it from the guy, he went to a mini car lot and stole mirrors off a Cherokee. :rotfl2:

He lets his daughter drive it to school because he finds a blue '87 Comanche, with the 2.8 in it. The truck has a bedliner that was also on the tailgate... She decides to drive with the tailgate down and I'm not really sure what happened, but all I know is that the tailgate ended up coming off dispensing of the liner, and in the process tore the tail gate a new....yeah. It's bent out of shape and very rusty due to the abrasions. :fool:

He probably has owned the vehicle since the mid to late 90's. I acquired it in '07. It drove ok, but it's age caught up. I've gotten another vehicle since then, and don't drive the Comanche. I'm also learning about working on vehicles from my "adopted dad". I'm learning a lot so I can't wait to start bringing my baby back to life. I'm also glad to have found this site, and look forward to communicating with you all. I'm sure I will have lots of questions when I start working on the ol' Bumble Bee in the future.

Hey I'm new here. This is my '88 comanche in the first pic before i took her into a wall at 55mph. :fs1: (now she's just a parts truck) and the second pic is my new to me '89 manche. I'm hopeing to kinda fix her up and use her as a daily driver at the same time. Shes one hell of a craigslist find. only 100K on the odometer (hawiian plates) quite a bit of rust though. I'm not too worried about it, my wrecked '88 is completly rust free and parked out of the way in my yard just waiting to be sacraficed one piece at a time. :D

I picked up my AMC-V8 last night . . .

drove to the truck stop at 4am loaded it up in the bed hauled it home and drove to work and back with it in the bed, The little MJ handled the load very well, tho if i had to do it again i would rather have the V-8 under hood and the I-4 laying in the bed

Can't wait to get it rebuilt mated up an AX-15 5spd, swap out the D35 n 3.73s for an AMC-20 n 4.10s and dropped it all in the MJ

body work, fresh paint job, new decal, new interior, and a brand new set of 235/75R15C's and shazzam its done and ready to roll . . .
