Why not do both AND get Jimmy Buffett Parrothead plates! BwaHaHaHa! :rotf:

Alas, NH doesn't offer Jimmy Buffett Parrothead plates. However AFAIK the NH plates still sport the best state motto in the USofA: LIVE FREE OR DIE! Who can ever forget the late great George Carlin's routine?

But by now it's probably succumbed to political pressure and been done away with it. Like they did here in 'Bama when we had HEART OF DIXIE on our plates. The state flag however still sports a variation of the Stars & Bars, the Crimson St. Andrew's cross on a white field, patterned after the Confederate Battle Flag. And of course, there's a lot of pressure to change that too. I don't get it..........sigh

LIVE FREE AND DIE, its still somethign we all believe in. well atleast the normal people up here. we got all these tree huggin hippes from mass trying to govern everything and make it a socialist community.

fyi, i have a black and blue 81 chevy lifted 5-6'' on 35x16x15 tires. most people actually can't get into my truck so vandalizing isnt a big concern. or maybe it the gun rack and all the hunting and gun stickers i have laying around.

from the people i talk to most people arent necessarily okay with the flag but don't really care if you want it then have it. kinda chimes in with the live free or die. most people up here who drive lifted trucks... well a little redneck is an understatement. you go tlike 2 groups of people up here, normal people and people with lifted trucks. ford guys wave to chevy guys as long as it lifted. and then you got the other people

p.s. sorry if i offended anyone

Fly the flag at your MJ's own risk the second your back is turned. As far as "LIVE FREE and DIE" is concerned, I spent six years of my life in the Army working for those who are either determined to "LIVE FREE AND DIE" as well as those who are determined to openly protest.

So please feel free to go ahead and "LIVE FREE and DIE" on me. I risked my own life and fought for your right to do so from 1988-1994...

You're welcome,

:beerhead:

Seems it would be simple enough to do, BUT...In My Opinion...that is a terrible disgrace to our flag to use it in that manner. The flag should not be used as a vehicle decoration, as clothing or in any manner except the way it was intended...to fly in glory on a pole representing our great nations freedom. Any other use of it or it's likeness is an insult & disgrace.

Sorry for my rant, but I am very tired of see this type of disrespect. Please CLICK HERE TO READ THE FLAG ETIQUETTE - STANDARS OF RESPECT.

This is intended as an education for all to show that it is not "cool" or "Patriotic" to put the flag on your clothes or car as many people seem to think. I just want people to understand what is right & wrong. If you choose to do the wrong thing...that is up to you, but don't expect help or respect from me or people like me that have served this country and have the proper respect for it.

meatgrinder13 - this is NOT directed specifically at you nor is it said with any hostility...just so happens that you brought it up and I felt it time to express my feelings and hopefully help some folks to understand the correct way of doing things ;) :D

I've always been kinda on the fence about this. I believe in respect for our country, but also feel that the flag is simply a symbol, and thus is a totem for freedom of expression. No matter what viewpoint you wish to express about our country, a depiction of our flag can be an important part of that. And if the freedoms of our country mean anything, then they must be more important that a "sacred" image.

Besides, I'm not sure I'd want to live in a country where this is considered disrespectful:

On the serious side...the bikini is a horrible disrespect and I don't like it.

On the lighter side...if I ran in to her, I would likely have to explain that what she is doing is a terrible thing and demand that she remove the offensive clothing IMMEDIATELY :brows:

Ahhh, the discussion about what constitutes disrespect, and what shows pride in their country. Everyone has their own opinions on car flags, and paint jobs, and , um, bikinis and such. There's such a fuzzy line dividing "respectful" from "tasteless" and it's mostly in the eye of the beholder. Me, I'll just go with the opinion that if the person is doing it out of pride in the good ol' U. S. of A., then I'm not going to get too worked up about it (as long as they take care of it). Having the stars and stripes on your headliner? That's cool with me. Why? Because it's being displayed in a location that should stay pristine. For contrast, having the stars and stripes as a seat cover? Not so cool. It will clearly get worn and look bad. Using an actual US flag to do the headliner? I'm a bit torn on that one and think it's more on the side of not cool. On car flags, I like my US car flag and fly it with pride. I can't stand other people still flying the poor thing even though it's clearly falling apart and tattered. That frustrates the heck out of me. They crossed the line from pride to disrespect. I know there's an official book that lists all the dos and don'ts, but I go more for the pride factor. Did the person mean well? and do they continue to take care of the flag or image? A tattered flag sits far worse with me than even the bikini.

Agreed... I don't want anyone to think I am angry or "worked up" over this. I just want folks to be educated on what the "Rules" are (per our country) and make the decision that they feel is appropriate for them

flag ettiquette does need to be taken into account, BUT if this is the only way for someone to show support for their country, I have ZERO problem with it.

putting a flag up in any way other than defacing burning or destroying is, in my book, patriotic. that flag is not any of those things, it has been melded into a great vehicle with the intent of showing our country's colours.

what do you want him to do, fly it on the back of his truck? uh...no. personally, I want to shoot the fawkin hicks who fly flags on their trucks. it's ghey.

In my neck of the woods...the only trucks you would see that on are lifted Fords or Chevys (and usually the driver is beyond wasted) a.k.a. Rednecks

Though started in Tech, this thread pretty quickly veered into Pub territory, so I'm gonna treat it as such.

I think it's important to enlighten folks about the "RULES" so that they make conscious choices as to how they use depictions of our flag.

Otherwise you get displays of disrespect due to carelessness or ignorance, such as:

BushFlag2.jpg

and

BushFlag1.jpg

The whole concept of turning a depiction of our flag into a "doormat" is beyond stupid, and to do it for a public function? Incredible!!!

BTW everyone does know that we have a flag smilie, right?

:USAflag:

Respectful or no?

even up here in new hampshire about 5 of my buddies have used the confederate flag headliner idea. they just pulled down the backing removed the old sagging headliner and glued/wrapped the flag around it. all of them came out looking pretty good but i think the idea is starting to get over used. I'm more of a pirate flag fan but i do have both a confederate flag sticker on my truck and a pirate flag. i catch alot of flack for the confederate flag sticker, mostly by people who think all it stands for is racism.

after 6 years of dedicated service and doing some really awesome things.... They have still not given me my Honorable Discharge Certificate.... Bastards, I gave up on the cause. My DD214 has everything I need on it :)

Mine came like clockwork two years after I completed my active duty, i.e., 6+2...
