xjcrazy09 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Can I get some help please. I was driving the Comanche recently and lost all clutch pressure. I was wondering if this was the slave cylinder? any other possibilities? thanks for the help before hand
Pete M Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Check for dripping. Check under the truck under the bellhousing, along the clutch line running up to the master, and then in the engine compartment below the clutch master cylinder. If you find any nasty fluid, let us know.
BLHTAZ Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Be sure to look in the master cylinder and see if you have fluid in it. If not...obviously you have a leak. If there is fluid, then you either have a defective master or slave. Otherwise...continue with what Pete said.
Eagle Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 There are three possibilities: the slave cylinder, the clutch master cylinder, and the line/hose that connects them. I've not had a master blow out on my (yet), but I have had both a slave cylinder and a hose blow out on me while driving.
manche Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 i had the same problem but it was the slave every morning i would fill up to get pressure becuase there would be none in the peddle after i drive it all day and then next morning have to fill again i had a small leak in mine i had a enternal on a ax-5
IDXJ Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 If you can't see a blatant leak, try looking inside the cab where the pushrod goes to the master. I've had 2 leak into the interior and hard to find. It gets brake fluid all over and in the fuse block too. Good luck

xjcrazy09 Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Alright, its late tonight. I'll check for dripping in the morning. thanks for all the help so far!
Oizarod115 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 i had a master cyl go out on me a few years back, one day i was driving around like usual and the next day i had no clutch pressure at all no fluid loss or anything just lost the clutch
xjcrazy09 Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Ok so I saw a spot of fluids coming out underneath the transmission as I leaving for work.
xjcrazy09 Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 yeah, thats what i was afraid of. just before wheeling season too
Pete M Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Better than half way down the trail. :brows:
xjcrazy09 Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 that is also very true, I'm going to have it towed ( because i have AAA and its free ) to my cousins garage on Friday to start the tear down of it
JeepcoMJ Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 hang on... you won't need to remove the transmission if you have an external slave, which could be the case if you have a 4 cylinder 5 speed, or if you have a newer ax15 in your rig. just think about that...cause if you don't have to drop the trans, you'll be much happier
