had one at one time a few years ago, 600 is a good buy sold mine that was not quite in the same shape for $2500 Chevy 350 fits very nice in this truck

So is everyone saying it isnt a 258 or that it isnt the original engine? I'm confused.

 

From further study.

 

That is a Ford 300 I6. The shifter is from a ford small car (looks similar to XJ's but this one has a hump.

 

Its possibly NOT 4x4 anymore either, as it would have been Righthanded Pumpkin and from the look of that engine, its from the Lefthanded drop pumpkin days of Ford.

 

It should have a 232 Jeep I6 in there, with a ha-uuuuge gear ratio in the axles and a really low 4spd manual trans.

That's an M-715. The biggest and baddest Jeep ever made. And that is one of the rare-ish hardtops. Totally removable of course. :D

 

Rareish? Thats homebrew m'friend :P Hardtops are 1 in 200 to find on whats left in the M-715 world.

Dude, this thing is getting out of hand and a bit too complicated, you need to bail out on it. What street did you say this was located on again?

 

Pics of the trailer would help of course, but I dunno, $750 for both? I would think you could get him to $500 on the truck, so $250 for a trailer seems way more than fair. BUT, first I would give him the ole "well, $400 was about the best I could do on the truck, if I give you asking price on the truck can you throw in the trailer?" And he'll say he needs at least $800 for both and you say $700 and he says sold. Then you call me and I give you $800, you make a quick $100 finders fee and everybody is happy. Got it? Cool, let me know when I need to come pick it up. ;)

Here's how you do it.

 

Truck and Trailer, if the truck can run and move from its sitting place, $750-800.

 

But, that being said, the low-deal approach can also work here, Say the best I can do for the truck is $400 but truck + trailer I can do $550?

I learned to 4 wheel in a M715, back when I was a volunteer firefighter. We had one we used as a brush truck.

 

Unstoppable, but downright frightening to drive over 40 mph.

No, the original engine in the M-715 was the Jeep 230 OHC "Tornado" inline 6. Not the AMC 232 or 258 (which are identical in outward appearance, both with the intake and exhause on the left side unlike the engine in this picture).

Right on the money I owned a '64 gladiator with the 230 tornado and 3 sp ;-- Big Head and the spark plugs seem to go in at an angle and in pairs....

 

loved it but don't try to do a regular u turn on the street.... 8)

For 600 bucks?, oh yea I would. I've seen 715's in "action". I LOVED the end of the video where he kept draggin' the two around the pond as if to say "looky what I can do :brows: "......lol

Ok the truck is mine!!!! :D got the trailer too, he threw that in for free. As far as the motor I want to keep it simple and JEEP so what would you recommend? I am thinking of finding a AMC 304 V8 :brows:

Exactly...there are still a lot of options for the 401 available too. Check out BullTear for some help on AMC V-8 stuff. :cheers:

Well since he threw in the trailor I didnt try to talk hime down but I think 600 bucks was a good deal seeing as to how much they are going for on that Vintagemilitarytruck website. :D Here are some more pictures
