JeepcoMJ Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 87 comanche is idling low...it's a 4.0 automatic. swapped throttle bodies twice, and CPS. what could it be? it's idling at around 350 RPM
88XJSport Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 My Renix did that about a month ago. It was idling about 3-400 rpm for about a week or 2, then it idled about 1500rpm....changed the IAC, and its back to normal. Maybe my situation was unique, but thats what fixed mine.
ComancheKid45 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Does someone have a diagram of where excatly the IAC is located? thanks

88XJSport Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 TPS adjust correct? This is what I would check, Jeepco, if the IAC doesnt clear the problem.
JeepcoMJ Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 TPS adjust correct? i didn't even know you could adjust the TPS on these things (the only 4.0's i've worked on are H.O's, and stripping down parts trucks...this is the first time I've DD'd a 4.0) how to?
chicofuentes0224 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 The TPS is adjustable by loosening the two small bolts that hold it on and rotating the TPS up or down. You have to have a gauge hooked up to the back of the connector to read the voltage of the differnt wires. PM if you need the info from Alldata for an automatic. However you're problem might be that your Vac lines from the VC are clogged. Take the line that runs from the back of the VC and disconnect it at the intake manifold. If your idle raises a good amount that line might just be plugged up with gunk. Blow compressed air thru it and remove your VC and clean out the ports that let the gasses escape. I'll PM you the info from Alldata for the TPS adjustment procedure or run a search on here and it's come up many times on how to do it.
JeepcoMJ Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 thanks for the help. i'll do that tomorrow -Pat
james750 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 New MAP sensor took care of a lot of my idle problems, but in my case it lowered the idle so idk if it would help your problem.
