Oh yeah burnt the hell out of that throw out bearing. Wouldn't you know it, I was on my way to work. Yep custom intake and open up air flow I, someone else on CC has done similiar using a speaker mesh to cover as to mine is just open. Attempted to do CAD flip but needed to jack up truck to aline 2 piece shaft for colar to slide over. Someone elses photo on CC but just to show what it looked like before I closed it up. Oh that's my clutch pedal and clutch master push rod linkage Cleaned up both brake and clutch pedal welded clutch pedal Reinstalled, just wish I could have removerd the hanger for clean up too.

I'm planning on repainting my 88 MJ back to the original Dark Baltic Blue Metallic (HQ9). I'll be doing the prep and paint at home using my HVLP but this will be the first vehicle I have painted. I have a few rust spots that I'll weld in patches. I'm looking for advice in a couple of areas: 1) Anyone have experience with color code HQ9? Who did you order from and how true was the color? 2) Advice on prep/paint process. I don't want to do the 37 step Eastwood process on youtube but not a rattle can job either. What's a reasonable middle of the road? 3) Any differences in prep for mix of new metal and existing painted metal? 4) From actual experience, how much paint was required for a LWB? 5) Are there any original diagrams for logo placement? I've seen some differences in opinion in the forums especially regarding the 4x4 logo and Pioneer logo. I think I have all the correct parts just want to get them installed in the original locations. Thanks in advance. https://comancheclub.com/topic/59780-1988-jeep-comanche-rebuild/

For everything I've got into this truck so far. Meh, it wouldn't make any sense at this point I'd end up with just a vomit of pictures and half explanations. Anyways, anyone here have ideas on how to remove a spraybomb paint job without going to bare metal? I've tried lacquer thinner, paint thinner, acetone, all to no avail. The previous owner (one of 'em anyways) rattle canned the entire truck green....just not the same green as stock. I wanna get a single stage urethane with hardener but have to remove all this lacquer or acrylic or whatever Rust-Oleum is (could be Wal-Mart brand, you never know!). I'm trying to chemically strip the spray paint off without damaging the original coating too much and really REALLY don't wanna wet sand the whole truck. Although I know that's probably gonna be the solution..... Also, does the picture vomit sound like it would be helpful? I've got loads of pics from this thing.

Just curious, what is the group consensus on painting the grill/headlight surrounds to match body color? Like how Zone Offroad did with their comanche. Personally, I think it looks great. Kinda afraid to do it though, because I love the classic look. Although, my truck already has the wrong grill. It's an ugly chrome now, and I very much dislike chrome. I guess worst case, I could paint it black if I ended up not liking it. thoughts/comments? ps. here is a picture of the Zone truck because I know everyone hates threads without pictures. lol

Hey all, I have mainly been just lurking and watching and surfing since I was first looking for my first car. And well, I eventually got a hold of a Fiero from my dad, and while thats a different project, I ended up stumbling onto a 1990, 4.0, 5-Speed, NP231 Sport truck and for 700 I couldnt pass it up. I bought it in October of last year and got to drive it for a month before my LCA bracket on the axle broke off as i was getting off the freeway by my house. I ended up parking the truck while i hunted down a new axle (I wanted to get rid of the CAD system). And while it was sitting, i just kept acquiring more parts to do, and made my to do list longer and longer. Well as of now Its getting: Beijing 2500 Front End Painted Flat white (Rustoleum spray can so scratches won't kill me) with Semi-Gloss Black trim Roof Rack + LED lights (have a 42" Bar already) Custom Front and rear Bumpers with Dual Hidden 12K Winches (Overkill, I know) Custom Rock Sliders And a Claytons Offroad 3-Link upfront and I'm not to sure how much lift itl actually be and a Spring over in the rear 97+ Power Doors/Mirrors So far I have the front end installed and still deciding how to do my front fenders And while I'm doing that my dad is helping out and putting rebuild-able hinges from the 97+, We had to replace the drivers side Door striker area so its got the 97+ door jamb/Striker plate welded in. And the Passenger side will be done to match. I have a lot of the body sanded down ready for paint, I have the new drivers door painted and reassembled and the colors go good together. I don't have any pictures yet, but Ill throw some up tomorrow of my progress... This thread is mainly for me to track my progress and keep track of what parts are from what type of thing, but I figured others may enjoy watching this.
