New Endeavors In Chachkies
RochesterMJ replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Your wife is gonna be pissed. I see many sandwiches in your future -
I'd say the problem is that the Owner and the GM are the same person. The only guy that can fire them is the guy that hired them...where's the tension? Most Mario's need a Donkey Kong throwing barrels at them to keep em in line. All that said... I'm a Lions fan and my back-up team? Cleveland. It does get worse Dallas fans, just wait until next year when we swap coaches

What Year Is This Truck?
RochesterMJ replied to MrSimon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That sucks. Glad to hear you were smart enough to walk away from it, it only cost you a car ride. -
What Year Is This Truck?
RochesterMJ replied to MrSimon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You should post up some details and asking price. Members here can confirm if its in range or not. My 2 cents: If the owner doesn't even know what year it is...then you should be paying less than its worth. -
Lazy Man's Mj Nose Job

Part #'s: 56000852 and 56000853 Part Name: Parking Lamp Export Amber You're not crazy, looks like TeamCherokee doesn't list them anymore. Internet search shows Quadratec, Morris 4x4, and others have them listed. -
Thats a nice write up! Thanks GirsMJ86!

That looks great. I've always liked the copper color but this might be my new favorite. You gonna paint the new flares or leave them black?

Need To Cover Mirror Holes
RochesterMJ replied to last254's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I call them the mirror-delete panels. There's 2 pair at the bottom of this pic, they're triangular in shape, there's a cover and a gasket. One of the covers is busted in two. These are available. The mirrors are not available (sold) Image Not Found -
Who knows, I figure its been so long since the person saw another Comanche that they figure no one will know what it is, at least tag it at the bottom. I don't know what I'm more shocked by - that it has a factory bumper thats not crushed in on the drivers side or that they've also got what looks like a Fiat convertible.

1988 Jeep Cherokee Stumbled across this ad. No mention of Comanche or MJ. If you're in SE MI you probably missed this.

How To Adjust Door Glass Beltline Seals?
RochesterMJ replied to RochesterMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Checked the seals and they're installed correctly. Figure its either worn out or when I had it off I might have bent the metal carrier and its now pushing the seal into the glass too much. Will have to experiment next time I pull the door panel off - don't care enough to mess with it in the cold- 5 replies

I've got manual windows and when I roll the drivers window down the "weatherstrip Glass Inner Seal" (#2 in the pic) tends to fold over and I have to push down on the glass while cranking to get the window all the way down. I've tried the dry silicone spray (temporarily helps), tried trimming them back (didn't help, looked like crud), and replaced them with seals from the JY that looked like they had more flocking (the fuzzy part) (no change). Its been like this for a while but I can't remember if its always been like this, I've had the trim panels off a couple times, did I mess something up when I reinstalled them? Is there a way to adjust the seal away from the glass or tilt it so its not pressing against the glass as hard?

Air Leaks On Windows
RochesterMJ replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Quadratec has most of the door seals. Search under 84-96 Cherokee (XJ). MJ uses the front doors from the 4 door XJ, doors from the 2 door xj are not the same as the MJ. -

That chrome is nice  -
I really like the MJ's with the 97-01 front end conversions but I'm pretty lazy. Quick, kinda cheap option: Replace your stock clear parking lamps with amber parking lamp lenses. The amber lenses were for exports only, something to do with European lighting regulations I'm guessing. I bought those from TeamCherokee. BEFORE AFTER

Small load of pavers (180). The load isn't impressive, what's impressive is the delivery fees the Comanche has helped me avoid this weekend. $90 for the pavers and $60 for the gravel (see above). Not used to the MJ giving me money, nice change of pace.
-
Half yard of gravel (paver base) = 1300-1500lbs. Engine didn't even notice, stock brakes were surprisingly ok. Wish I had a Metric Ton, could have used another quarter yard. The half yard cost $20 from the stone place, needed more after they closed so had to buy 12 bags from Home Depot for $40 (2X the money for maybe 1/4 the material - thats what you pay for convenience) Loaded Unloaded

My doesn't keep time. Glued a $5 battery clock in, works great during the day - would be nice to be lit at night (the clock, not me......wait, the clock and me but not while driving) $30? Does it ever end? might as well name my truck The Bank, cuz thats where all my money is
